The most wonderful time for streaming officially has a date: Dec. 25, 2024. That single day accounted for 51.2 billion minutes of cumulative streaming time, according to Nielsen, making it the most-streamed day of television for the U.S. in the company’s history of measurement.
Streaming represented roughly half of total TV consumption on that day, clocking in at 49.5%.
So what were people watching on Christmas Day? Unsurprisingly, Netflix stole the show. The Baltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texans NFL game was the most-watched event of the day, securing 2.98 billion minutes streamed alone. The Ravens and Texans likely got an assist from Beyoncé, who performed during halftime. That was followed by the Kansas City Chiefs vs. Pittsburg Steelers game, which also secured 2.98 billion minutes streamed, though it saw roughly 200,000 fewer streaming minutes than the other game.

The Traitors is becoming more than just a cult favorite.
The competition series opened its third season with its largest viewing numbers to date: It registered 499 million minutes of viewing on Peacock for the week of Jan. 6-12, based on preliminary Nielsen streaming figures. Season three premiered on Jan. 9. (Nielsen’s streaming figures include all episodes of a show, so some of that time came from prior seasons.)
That’s a series high for The Traitors, whose previous best showing in Nielsen’s streaming ratings was 402 million minutes the week after its season two premiere in January 2024. It’s also the best premiere week for any Peacock unscripted series to date and was the top unscripted show in the United States last week across all platforms.
Full streaming ratings for Jan. 6-12 from Nielsen will be released in a few weeks, per the ratings service’s agreement with streaming platforms.

The procedural drama Wild Cards on the CW was green-lit for a second season in May, but like so many CW shows before, it floated in the bubble about whether the network would be canceled. For fans of this intriguing Canadian-us show, it was a relief.
Season 2 of Wild Cards is currently in production and will premiere on Thursday, Feb. 6 in the US. Not only will we have more crime-fighting stories led by Max and her partner, Ellis, who is portrayed by Vanessa Morgan of Riverdale and Giacomo Gianniotti of Reign, respectively. A handful of guest stars will also join the roster.
It's big news, considering we didn't have much coverage between the renewal and the guest star update. The CW has a history of keeping mum on show spoilers, even when updates are considered spoilers. Wild Cards has followed the same pattern, so we'll take what we can get regarding its content.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone director Chris Columbus reveals that there's one scene in the movie that he wasn't happy with, but an executive barred him from fixing it. Released in 2001 and based on the book by J.K. Rowling, the first installment in Warner Bros.' Harry Potter franchise was a massive success, paving the way for seven sequels. The film, which stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, was beloved for how it brought Rowling's Wizarding World to life, but Columbus now reveals there's one effect he wasn't satisfied with.
In a recent interview with THR, Columbus reveals that he was left bothered by the Devil's Snare scene toward the end of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. According to the director, he wanted to enhance the scene in post-production using visual effects, but a powerful executive producer shut the idea down. Columbus shares the anecdote to...

When it comes to Christmas movies, Home Alone reigns supreme. Though Kevin McCallister reigned the movie, let’s talk about the real Mvp of slapstick disasters, Marv, played by Daniel Stern. Well, we all know, this guy wasn’t just a burglar, he was a walking, talking calamity with zero self-preservation skills. Paired with the classic Pesci’s short-fused Harry, Marv is the tall, clueless half of the “Wet Bandits,” who thinks leaving flooded houses is a genius criminal signature. Turns out, it’s not.

Kieran Culkin appeared on the latest episode of the “Smartless” podcast (via People) and remembered an uncomfortable incident that occurred on his first acting job when he was six years old. The Emmy winner was filming a commercial that had “something to do with learning disabilities.” The director allegedly called Culkin an “idiot” to try and help him get into character, but Culkin was only a child and didn’t understand.
“First professional experience I had was a commercial when I was six,” Culkin said. “The concept was I’m standing in front of a chalkboard with chalk in my hand and I don’t know how to solve the easy thing in front of me. And the kids in the class are supposed to be calling me a dummy and stupid, all that.”

’Twas the weekend before Christmas… With the holiday season upon us, many of us are starting to revisit some of our of Christmas favourites. I actually went to see a 4K re-release of the original Black Christmas last night here in Montreal. There’s something comforting upon returning to our old favourites every year, whether they be traditional Christmas classics, or perhaps something a little more modern, like Die Hard, which, despite many claiming otherwise, has totally established itself as a Christmas classic over the years.
Whatever the case, there are certainly Loads of Christmas movies, with everything from old-time classics like It’s A Wonderful Life or some of the many versions of A Christmas Carol (the Alistair Sim version is the best Imo), or something like Love Actually, which is virtually inescapable at this time of the year.

It’s almost Christmas and there’s no better time than now to snuggle up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate in your hands and Home Alone on the television screen. Macaulay Culkin’s hit film became a staple in every household with its heartwarming mix of humor, holiday spirit, and clever mischief. If there’s a film that gives meaning to the word nostalgia, it’s Home Alone. Since it turned Macaulay Culkin into a household name, you might wonder just how much the young actor made for his portrayal of Kevin McCallister.

It is no surprise that Home Alone was an overnight success for all the right reasons and the lead actor pocketed $110,000 for his work. However, when he later returned for a sequel, his bank account significantly expanded thanks to a genius clause in his contract.

It’s almost Christmas O’ clock, which means it’s Home Alone time! While the sequels got progressively wilder and a bit chaotic, and honestly not as great after Macaulay Culkin grew out of the role, he still gave us two of the best Christmas movies ever made.

Hollywood is not a place for everyone and hence, there are often actors who choose to quit the celebrity life, living a life full of peace and solace away from the constant public exposure. And in a surprising twist of fate, one of the most infamous villains who tormented Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McCallister in the first two Home Alone movies has been living a quiet, idyllic life on a farm.

Harry Potter director Chris Columbus has given his thoughts on the TV reboot and how it might differ from the movies. Columbus first rose to prominence directing Home Alone, and its sequel Home Alone 2, before helming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001, and its follow-up Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in 2002. The movies were adapted from the first two novels of J. K. Rowling's beloved YA fantasy series, following the adventures of boy wizard Harry Potter and his friends at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. HBO is planning a Harry Potter TV remake that's expected to drop in 2026.
In an interview with Empire magazine, the director opened up on the approach he felt the TV show could take to adapt the series, and how this might differ from the movies. Columbus discussed how the show would have the opportunity to explore characters that he...

Home Alone has earned its place as a beloved holiday classic, and Macaulay Culkin has been touring the country to celebrate the film. Dubbed A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin, the actor hosts Home Alone screenings followed by a Q&a. During a recent screening in Illinois, Culkin said his Home Alone co-star Joe Pesci got a little too into character while they were rehearsing a scene and actually bit him.
“He was trying to scare me,” Culkin explained. “He was like, ‘I want to be menacing to this kid.’” The actor said Pesci took it a little too far while threatening to bite off the fingers of Culkin’s character and really bit down. “I have a scar,” Culkin said, adding that Pesci had a look of pure panic. “I saw his face — and I’ve never, ever seen Joe Pesci actually scared,” Culkin said. “Because he’s like,...

‘Tis the season for viewings of “Home Alone,” and Macaulay Culkin knows it. The actor is currently touring around the country for what is billed as “A Nostalgic Night With Macaulay Culkin,” in which he hosts a screening of “Home Alone” followed by a Q&a. At a recent stop in Rosemont, Illinois (via The New York Times), Culkin revealed that his co-star Joe Pesci actually bit his finger while rehearsing a scene in which Pesci’s thief Harry threatens Culkin’s Kevin McCallister.
As reported by The Times: “‘He was trying to scare me,’ Culkin recounted. Thinking it would help the robber-victim dynamic, ‘he was like, I want to be menacing to this kid.’ Once, rehearsing a scene in which Pesci’s Harry is threatening to bite off Kevin’s fingers, he inadvertently took it too far and really chomped Culkin. ‘I have a scar,’ he said. Tim Curry's new horror movie, titled Stream, marks his big screen return after 14 years. The English actor rose to relevancy with his role as Dr. Frank-n-Furter in the 1975 film The Rocky Horror Picture Show, reprising a role he originated in the musical stage production. Curry has appeared in many movies over the years, the last of which was Burke & Hare in 2010, before suffering a major stroke in 2012 and being confined to a wheelchair, and has since shifted mostly to voice acting.
Now, 14 years after his last feature film role, the seasoned actor is returning to the big screen. Per Variety, Curry is set to make a comeback portraying a character in the upcoming horror movie Stream, which releases in select theaters on August 21. Merry Christmas, you filthy animals. The time has come for your annual “Home Alone” marathon — but where exactly are those films calling home this holiday season?
In fairness, there are a lot of them to keep track of. Though the series ended in the hearts of most fans with “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” there were actually four more films that came after it. But, only the first two center on Kevin McCallister (Macaulay Culkin), Harry (Joe Pesci) and Marv (Daniel Stern). After that, new kids and new thieves take the reins.
The good news is, you can find all the “Home Alone” films in one place this year. But, you can also find them elsewhere, if you want to spend some money.
Where can I watch the “Home Alone” movies for free on streaming?
This holiday season, “Home Alone” and its many sequels are available to stream on Disney+.

Plenty of movie franchises overstay their welcome, and two movies is often enough to see whether a franchise has a viable future. The first sequel often dictates whether a franchise can be more than just one great movie. For example, John Wick was designed as a standalone movie, but its first sequel set up an intriguing story that necessitated an entire franchise. For every John Wick, there are many more franchises which deliver underwhelming sequels.
Not all movies should set up long-running franchises, and not all franchises should be designed to continue indefinitely. There are plenty of franchises with just two or three movies that are the perfect length. Unfortunately, studios don't always know when to quit. There's an art to knowing the right time to call it quits, and a lot of movie franchises would be held in higher regard if they had stopped at just two movies.

It’s that time of year when family favorites of the holiday season are played repeatedly on TV. Movies like Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Elf, A Christmas Story and The Santa Clause are on heavy rotations. Even though the movie is as popular as ever (complete with brand-new merchandise released decades after its premiere), Succession star Kieran Culkin revealed recently that he actually had not allowed his children to watch Home Alone, which stars his brother Macaulay and features him in a small role.
You might ask, “But why?” Is it because he doesn’t want his children to see him guzzle down Pepsi with the implication that he’ll wet the bed? The explanation is actually much simpler and more sensible. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Culkin would tell E! News that “there’s still some scary parts” for his young children.

A successful comedy movie franchise starring Ben Stiller and Chris Rock has multiple installments climbing a major streaming chart. Although both stars have dabbled in other genres including horror (Rock's Spiral: From the Book of Saw) and drama (Stiller's While We're Young and Brad's Status), both are primarily known for comedy. Comedian and actor Chris Rock has appeared in a wide variety of movies in the genre, ranging from the hybrid animated adventure movie Osmosis Jones to the Netflix wedding comedy The Week Of, co-starring Adam Sandler.
Some of Stiller's biggest comedy hits include There's Something About Mary, Tropic Thunder, Along Came Polly, and Starsky & Hutch. Additionally, he has launched multiple comedy franchises, including Night at the Museum, Zoolander, and Meet the Parents, which was followed by Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers. In a remarkable political comeback, Donald Trump has secured a second term as the US president, triumphing over Democratic rival Kamala Harris in a contested election. Right now is a scary time to be living in America, as the country is just days away from an election that will decide the next president: Will it be the current vice president, or the anthropomorphic hemorrhoid who retroactively ruined Home Alone 2? Stay tuned.
At this crucial moment in history, the Fourth Estate is more important than ever. But since cable news is a dumpster fire, and major newspapers seem to be ethically-kneecapped by their billionaire owners, we will instead have to rely on the journalistic integrity of a rubber hand puppet.
Triumph the Insult Comic Dog (who as you may not be aware is secretly controlled by a human being named Robert Smigel) has been providing on-site election coverage for The Daily Show this year. Most recently, Triumph popped by Madison Square Garden to interview Trump supporters eagerly lining up for the city’s most toxic open mic night.

Anyone who says "The Boys" has been trying too hard to be political of late seemingly wasn't paying close attention back in season 1. Creator Eric Kripke's pitch-dark, immensely raunchy small screen take on writer Garth Ennis and illustrator Darick Robertson's comic books of the same name is many things, but subtle or understated has never been one of them. Indeed, it's a series whose fundamental approach to social satire has always basically amounted to, "Who would [Insert Name Of Infamous Real-Life Figure] be if they existed in a world of superheroes?"
In the case of convicted felon Donald Trump, the creatives behind "The Boys" have made it crystal clear that they perceive him as our version of Homelander (and vice versa). The parallels between Antony Starr's milk-slurping, evil Superman-y "Supe" and the "Home Alone 2: Lost in New York" actor are practically impossible to miss, even when "The Boys" doesn't underline its social...

Former President of the United States and "Home Alone 2" actor Donald Trump isn't happy about how he's portrayed in the explosive new biopic "The Apprentice." The movie, which stars Sebastian Stan as Trump, takes a searing look at Trump's real-estate career in New York in the 1970s and 1980s, and though it's not exactly clear if Trump has seen the film, he does not like it.
The film officially released in the United States on Friday, October 11, and Trump quickly took to Truth Social, his social media platform, to put the movie on blast.
"A Fake and Classless Movie written about me, called, 'The Apprentice' (Do they even have the right to use that name without approval?), will hopefully 'bomb,'" the Republican candidate for president wrote. Since Tia and Tamera Mowry are best known for their early collaborative acting endeavors, such as the show Sister, Sister, there is an air of curiosity surrounding what they are doing now. Born on July 6, 1978, in Gelnhausen, West Germany, Tia and Tamera Mowry grew up with parents who worked in non-acting fields. However, after the twins grew interested in acting at an early age and asked their mother if they could move to California to pursue it professionally, their mother agreed with one condition: they would have to land an acting gig within a month after they moved.
In the subsequent years, Tia and Tamera Mowry started getting roles in commercials and relatively smaller television parts. They later leveraged these to find their place in bigger productions, which ultimately helped them become the leading characters of Sister, Sister. Even though many of their roles after Sister, Sister have been relatively obscure,...

While speaking with talk show host Graham Norton, Hugh Grant admitted he doesn’t remember working with Donald Trump particularly well, despite the fact that their paths crossed on the set of his 2002 film “Two Weeks Notice.”
“He played a bit part as himself in a romantic comedy I did with Sandra Bullock,” Grant explained. “But the fact is that I don’t really remember him very well. The night he came, I had a bet with Sandy that I could make the chairman of Warner Bros. cry by 9 p.m.”
The bet was much more important to him than the future president’s visit, Grant said. “And I was completely focused on that. It’s quite a big bet. She didn’t believe I could do it, but I did it.”
“So I’m afraid Donald Trump didn’t really register,” Grant added. He did not reveal how he made the Warner Bros.

It was a very well-known fact that Cuban supported the Republican Party and sided with Donald Trump. However, things seem to have changed for the businessman, as he has become quite vocal about his switch in alliance to Kamala Harris. Considering how calculated he is about his professional life, this decision must have followed a similar attitude.

Francis Ford Coppola drew gasps and groans for a prediction he’s now made about the upcoming presidential election.
The filmmaker joined his friends and collaborators Robert De Niro and Spike Lee for a Q&a livestreamed from New York’s AMC Lincoln Square to 65 IMAX theaters across the U.S. on September 24 before a New York Film Festival screening of “Megalopolis.”
The trio, in conversation with New York Film Festival artistic director Dennis Lim, shared reminiscences from their friendship before Coppola went deep on how “Megalopolis” can be seen as a metaphor for the fall of Rome — and explained why he thinks America is headed down the same path.
“My films are a little prescient, they relate to the future,” Coppola said, noting that people asked him “Why are you making a movie about eavesdropping?” when “The Conversation” came out. And then the Watergate tapes dropped shortly thereafter.

Children of the 1980s understand how deeply weird it is that Donald Trump is now considered a politician. 40 years ago, Trump was a clownish pop culture figure more than anything. He was often described as a real estate mogul in the press, but he was more often parodied on sitcoms and in comic strips as the world's worst millionaire, a caricature of a pseudo-celebrity, and the central symbol of Ronald Reagan's aggressively wicked yuppie class. He was a whimsical punchline more than he was a respected businessman and his financial failures were just as notorious as his successes. I personally recall a joke from Mad Magazine that said Trump was working on a book about his personal success ... but that he was stuck on Chapter 11.
Trump served as the template for multiple villains in other media, including Gordon Gekko from "Wall Street," C. Montgomery Burns from "The Simpsons," King Koopa in "Super Mario Bros,...

After Donald Trump’s debate performance last night, which found the former Home Alone 2: Lost in New York star ranting and raving about imaginary problems (some of which involving immigrants in a city literally named “Springfield”), naturally people’s minds drifted to The Simpsons.
Specifically, viewers likened Trump’s geriatric outrage to the famous meme depicting a news clipping of Grampa Simpson yelling at a cloud. This excerpt from a Season 13 episode has become social media’s defining image of impotent elder rage targeting nonexistent threats.
Longtime Simpsons writer Al Jean even felt compelled to deploy the meme for the very first time, following years of self-restraint, claiming, “I think now is the time.”
Even wilder, Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz implicitly compared Trump to the Grampa Simpson meme by telling ABC News that the “angry” and “unhinged” former president reminded him of “an old man yelling at the clouds.

50 years after its original run, the Norman Lear-produced sitcom "Good Times" is more than just "Dy-no-mite!" It's a spinoff within a spinoff and a classic Black family sitcom that inspired controversy as well as laughter. Like many beloved shows from the '70s, "Good Times" made headlines for behind-the-scenes drama and cast disagreements, but it also captivated audiences.
Originally formulated as a spinoff of "Maude" (which was itself a spinoff of unlikely hit "All in the Family"), "Good Times" retconned its central characters and setting in favor of a new premise. Henry (John Amos) became James, the family got poorer, and the setting switched from New York to Chicago, where it took inspiration from the Cabrini-Green housing projects. Audiences still dug the new show, though by the time it signed off five years later, it had changed entirely: Amos and original star Esther Rolle had left, and the show's most one-dimensional character,...

Pills, porno, Pokemon cards – The Three P’s! Mysterious Ways reminds us there’s more to faith than avoiding these sins of the flesh in director Tyler Eaton’s comedic and demonic feature debut. Anchored by strong performances and an equally strong message, the film asks viewers to place faith in each other above all, even if one of us is a devoted Bigfoot truther.
Mysterious Ways follows religious siblings Denise (Alyssa Sabo) and her brother Charlie (Brandon Raman) as they attempt to pick up the pieces of their congregation after their parents’ deaths. Children of a pastor, the duo find themselves embarking on much different paths. Denise desperately clings to the church, immersing herself in everything from worship group sleepovers to teen graphic novels featuring Christ crusaders fighting Satanists with Uzi’s. On the flip side is Charlie, slowly becoming disillusioned with his life, planning to escape his situation...

Jon Landau, the illustrious producer and COO of James Cameron‘s Lightstorm Entertainment, died July 5 in Los Angeles after a 16-month-long battle with cancer. He was 63.
Landau produced films generated by Cameron that include 1997’s Best Picture Oscar winner Titanic, which tied Ben-Hur for most Academy Awards, 11. That film for a time was the largest grossing film of all time until it was surpassed by another Cameron blockbuster, the 2009 Avatar, which Landau also produced. Other credits included Avatar: The Way of Water, Solaris, Alita: Battle Angel directed by Robert Rodriguez, and he co-produced Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Dick Tracy.

Remember when Donald Trump was just some random rich dude from the establishment who had a role in Home Alone 2? The good ol’ times, eh? Now, the former US President is one of the most controversial figures in American politics, a man who is a walking contradiction and a blatant liar, a man who managed to trick a nation into electing him, and all he did was – nothing! He is running for President once again and while he was elected as the Republican candidate to compete against Joe Biden, his future seems somewhat uncertain as he has been found guilty on all 34 felony charges in New York!
A jury of 12 of Trump’s peers, 12 people who have been selected and accepted as neutral observes of the process and who are – and that is the gist of the American justice system – capable of judging someone who is their equal, has...

Mark Hamill, Lynda Carter, George Takei and Sheryl Lee Ralph are among those in Hollywood who have taken to social media to share their reaction to Donald Trump’s guilty verdict in his New York criminal hush money trial.
A jury found the former president, who could face four years in prison or probation, guilty on all 34 counts of falsifying business records. Throughout the five weeks of testimony, the jury heard from a former tabloid publisher, a Hollywood fixer, Trump’s former lawyer and a porn star.
Trump also became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes. Sentencing is set for July 11.
Ralph, star on Abbott Elementary, quickly took to X, formerly Twitter, on Thursday, writing, “Former President Donald Trump has been found guilty of all 34 counts he faced. A cheer has erupted from Collect Pond Park.”

Home Alone Star Recalls One "Wild" Night with Donald Trump After Shooting Sequel - Main Image
Home Alone 2 star shares the "wild" night he had with Donald Trump, the former US President, after filming.
The Home Alone franchise will always be that classic '90s comedy flick that sparks nostalgia on Christmas day. However, what makes it stand out from the rest is because of one particular cameo from Donald Trump in the sequel.
Before we get into that though, here's how Trump made it into Home Alone 2.
Explaining That Donald Trump Cameo in Home Alone 2
When Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin) was asking for directions to go into The Plaza Hotel in the sequel, he ran into Donald Trump, who owned the establishment in real life at the time.
While that would have explained the cameo, helmer Chris Columbus said it wasn't that simple.

As fans must have already understood after watching him in the Home Alone film series, he is immensely dedicated to his work to the core.

That said, this tremendous commitment once almost had him losing his life while working on his comedy-action from 1981, Honky Tonk Freeway. And, ironically enough, Stern didn’t risk his life this badly while shooting an action scene, but rather, this happened while he was shooting a simple scene, for he accidentally consumed real drugs on set instead of using substitutes!

Macaulay Culkin, the actor who reached extraordinary heights of fame and success with his tremendous portrayal of the genius Kevin McCallister in his version of the Home Alone saga, actually shared a rather peculiar relationship with Michael Jackson in the eyes of the public. That being said, most fans may not know that this friendship actually started with a phone call.

As Culkin himself admitted it, the pair probably wouldn’t have shared the kind of close relationship they did had it not been for one “weird, random” call that the child actor received from the now-deceased King of Pop. And, although this may sound similar to the rumors surrounding Jackson’s alleged abuse of youngsters, that’s hardly the case, and Culkin stands as a witness to this claim.
