Alberto Lattuada said he would like Isabella Ferrari for the role of Caterina, but the producer objected drastically.
Ferrari recalls that, "Lattuada called me to audition for his 'La spina nel cuore'. The producer arrived and looked at me from top to bottom and from bottom to top. Then he told me point-blank: 'Can I see your tits? I was wearing a light T-shirt, like the famous one Baglioni was talking about in his song, so Lattuada intervened to defend me: 'There is no need, you can see everything anyway...'. I remained standing, still, and dressed. And yet I felt naked and unhappy, as I never have, even when, later, naked on the screen I really was."
