As mentioned by terrisyak, this is one succulent slice too good to pass up. If you're a Canadian, this movie will have a place in your heart directly in-between The Log Driver's Waltz cartoon short and Harriett's Magic Hats. Living in Kamploops, B.C, Scott has been adopted by a drunk and some lady, his best friend is his brother Brett who is a know-it-all and not much in a fight. Scott likes building boats. Who doesn't? As mentioned, his Dad gets drunk at a party and embarrasses Scott by uttering words that have forever been burned into my mind. "...now take my other son Scott...he may not know the difference between an ode and a sonnet...but if you need your plumbing fixed...he's your man." Hey, I'd run away too. What ensues is a tussle with some Western Canadian thugs named Dal and Kirk who are pushing the blow. Scott gets hooked up as a deliveryman but on his first mission, hears the cops, drops his spice and runs. Sound a bit like Han Solo in A New Hope? Actually, the two characters are remarkably alike. Meanwhile, Brett sets off to find his brother. He barely gets out of his highschool before some bullies beat him up and take his bike. Bully - "Hey man...what are you doing on MY bike? What say I try it out?" ( I still use this line to this day! ) Brett - "Uhh...but it's my bike..." Bully - < pulls out a haymaker and floors Brett > Meanwhile Scott joins the timber trade in an adventure that overshadows The Journey of Natty Gann. Meanwhile, Dal and Kirk come after him because they're out $3000 and try to kill him. The rest is a blur but I think there's something about a pirate ship at the end.
Anyways, a very quotable movie that you DON'T want to miss. 80's Canada...is there any better place to be?
