This 1985 romantic comedy that is laced with drama from director Sai Hung Fung is a movie that I hadn't even heard about before 2020, when I was given a chance to sit down and watch it.
I saw that Leslie Cheung was in the movie, so I had a bit of expectation to the movie actually. But as it turns out, writers Raymond Fung, Clifton Ko and Edward Li had managed to put together a somewhat bland and mediocre storyline. Some aspects made little or no sense, and didn't really help to serve the movie in much of any positive manner.
For a romantic comedy of this type, then "For Your Heart Only" (aka "Wai nei chung ching") was not the most memorable or outstanding of movies. The storyline just lacked that particular spark to it. It felt like director Sai Hung Fung was trying to accomplish a bit more than what was possible with the script available.
It was nicely enough acted, but the performers were somewhat limited by the lack of a proper script and storyline in my opinion.
While "For Your Heart Only" definitely was watchable, it is hardly a movie that I will be returning to watch a second time, because the storyline just didn't really have that much of a punch to it.
As such, I am rating "For Your Heart Only" a mere five out of ten stars. A very mediocre movie.
