Escape Plan's twist ending reframes the movie and Arnold Schwarzenegger's character, Rottmeyer. This 2013 action thriller is one of several Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger movies and cast the former as escape specialist Ray Breslin. Ray is sent to an "inescapable" prison dubbed The Tomb, run by vicious warden Hobbes (Jim Caviezel). Ray soon befriends Rottmeyer, who runs security for a mysterious thief called Mannheim, who steals from the rich to give to the poor. Together, the two men look for weaknesses in The Tomb's design and carefully plot their escape.
It also turns out Breslin's business partner Clark (Vincent D'Onofrio) is in league with Hobbes and wants Ray left trapped in The Tomb, which is eventually revealed to be a prison ship. The first Escape Plan movie ends with Breslin and Rottmeyer putting their scheme into action, and after much shooting and punching, they escape in a rescue helicopter.

Escape Plan is one of Sylvester Stallone's lesser known franchises, but in what order do they take place in? After breaking through with Rocky in 1976, Stallone quickly realized the value of building up franchises. He had both the Rocky and Rambo sagas to lean on when he needed a guaranteed hit, and he later created The Expendables for the same reason. Escape Plan is arguably Stallone's worst franchise, though that doesn't necessarily mean there's no fun to be had with them.
The original was one of several Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger movies that the former rivals made in quick succession during the early 2010s. The series cast Stallone as escape expert Ray Breslin, who often finds himself breaking out of or into "inescapable" penitentiaries. The Escape Plan films don't have a particularly convoluted narrative, though the events of one typically have an impact on the next.

Production is underway on MaXXXine, the third film of Ti West’s X trilogy starring Mia Goth, and the actress told SFX Magazine that she views the new sequel as a “superhero movie.“
“I see MaXXXine as a superhero movie – that’s how I read the script,” Mia Goth said. “Maxine, as a character, has come a long way. She’s a survivor, she’s gone through a lot. When we meet her again, in this new world that she’s in, she’s really fought for everything that she has, and she’s not about to give that up. She’s going to fight for what she has. She’s a badass. There’s a strength to her. And she’s a really proactive, determined, focused woman. She goes after what she wants, and she’s not really going to take no for an answer.”

Strap yourself in for the second installment of the explosive and electrifying action franchise, as the on-screen forces of Sylvester Stallone and Dave Bautista combine in Escape Plan 2 – which aims to build on the story and characters from the success of the first film in 2013, elevating them to a whole new white knuckle ride into the dystopian land of the dead.
Years after Ray Breslin (Sylvester Stallone) fought his way out of the escape-proof prison called “The Tomb,” he’s organised a new top-notch, for-hire security force that includes some of the best in the business. But when one of Breslin’s team goes missing – inside a computerised techno-terror battle-maze known as Hades, where human combatants brawl like beasts – Breslin goes back into the secret lock-up to save his friend. To attempt this near impossible mission, he enlists his old friend Trent Derosa (Dave Bautista) and the returning surveillance expert...

Like many children growing up in the 1960s, Kenneth Hall loved monsters. Ever since he was a toddler, his mother — who was an especially big fan of Vincent Price — took him and his brother to see films like The Brides Of Dracula, Curse Of The Werewolf, and The Pit And The Pendulum. And that was all it took. At age 10, Hall discovered Famous Monsters of Filmland, and with the help of the trusty TV Guide, he and his brother made a point to watch as many of the films they read about as they could, even if it meant sneaking out of bed and staying up late to catch a showing of The Deadly Mantis. Like many Monster Kids of his time, there was a now-or-never mentality that came with a lack of home video, but growing up in Jacksonville, Fl did give Hall an extra advantage. It was the...

Screen siren Tawny Kitaen returns to our screens on the hunt for a killer in After Midnight, the sizzling and suspenseful new film from renowned filmmaker Fred Olen Ray (the man behind one of my favourite horror B-movies, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers).
When an exotic dancer is murdered at a seedy strip club, her sister Constance (Catherine Annette – Silent But Deadly), a TV newscaster, goes undercover to find the killer. While working at the club, she quickly realizes that everyone is a suspect and that other dancers are being targeted. She must work fast to find the killer to seek her revenge before she becomes the next target.
Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street, A Night at the Roxbury) co-stars in After Midnight, from the fan favorite director of Hatfields and McCoys: Bad Blood and The Tomb, released on VOD October 28th from Phase 4 Films.

Stars: Billy Jacoby, Judy Landers, Troy Donahue, Olivia Barash, Stuart Fratkin, Raymond O’Connor, Bobby Jacoby | Written by Kenneth J. Hall | Directed by David DeCoteau
Yet another film from my youth and one that I distinctly remember from the pages of The Dark Side magazine (back in my pre-internet days when I used to buy horror mags religiously), Dr. Alien is a film that, despite my knowledge of it, I have yet to see. So this new DVD from 88 Films is a welcome addition to my ever-growing B-movie library.
After Ms. Xenobia takes over Dr. Ackerman’s science class following an “incident” the puts Ackerman in the hospital, she persuades a nerdish Wesley Littlejohn to participate in some vitamin research she and her assistant Drax are conducting. Suddenly Wesley becomes very desirable to all the ladies – including Ms. Xenobia herself – despite the fleshy antenna that grows out of his head when he’s excited!

Wanna know what it takes to become a scream queen? Let Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens and Michelle Bauer, three of the original scream queens of cinema, show you the way. Check out a trailer for Jason Paul Collum’s “Screaming in High Heels: The Rise & Fall of the Scream Queen Era”, which, as you might expect given the title, traces the rise and fall of the scream queen era as seen through the eyes of Quigley, Stevens and Bauer. This is a great documentary … if you’re into smut! Three girls living in Los Angeles, CA, in the 1980s found cult fame when they “accidentally” transitioned from models to B-movie actresses, coinciding with the major direct-to-video horror film boom of the era. Known as “The Terrifying Trio,” Linnea Quigley (The Return of the Living Dead), Brinke Stevens (The Slumber Party Massacre) and Michelle Bauer (The Tomb), headlined upwards of ten films per year,...

Featuring: Brinke Stevens, Linnea Quigley, Michelle Bauer, David DeCoteau, Fred Olen Ray, Ken Hall, Ted Newsom, Jay Richardson, Richard Gabai
Screaming in High Heels comes from the devoted mind of journalist and filmmaker Jason Paul Collum, whose interest in all things Slumber Party Massacre led him to become a fascinated fan of women who star in horror movies. In Screaming in High Heels: The Rise and Fall of the Scream Queen Era, Collum details the horror movie careers of the three women who coined the phrase “Scream Queen”: Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens, and Michelle Bauer.
Collum is a great storyteller, and it’s evident from his previous documentary on Scream Queens, Something to Scream About, that he’s extremely interested in these women’s vocations as a phenomenon of horror fandom. Screaming in High Heels isn’t about Linnea, Brinke, and Michelle as...

Yuletide ghouls continue their march toward the big screen as the Joe R. Lansdale project Christmas With the Dead gears up to shoot—but now they’ll be doing so for a different director.
The Christmas team gave word that Brian James Fitzpatrick has been replaced at the helm by Terrill Lee Lankford due to creative differences. “We’re sorry it didn’t work out with Brian, as no one respects his talents and skills more than I do, but we’re happy to have Lee on board,” says Lansdale, executive producer on the film, based on his story.
Currently running Hieronymous Pictures for author Michael Connelly—for which he recently directed Conflict of Interest, a three-part tie-in to Connelly’s novel The Scarecrow—Lankford is currently scripting a feature adaptation of the popular TV series The Equalizer with Connelly. Fright fans, however, will know him better as T.L. Lankford,...
