I reviewed this movie for a film class about childhood and cinema at University. It is a beautiful recollection of director Wolfgang Murnberger's childhood, spent in a small Austrian village, where his family owned a cinema. The sequences are put together in a non-chronological order and thus create a kaleidoscope of colorful childhood images, impressions of cinematographic history and life on the country side.
"Himmel oder Hoelle" was Murberger's debut film and graduation project from film school (if I recollect the facts correctly) and earned him a special Austrian film prize.
