John Molloy is the head of production at Mushroom Pictures, working out of the company's Melbourne office. After boffo success with 'Molly' earlier in the year, he's now gearing up for the release of his latest project as producer: Nicholas Verso's fantasy-tinged teen drama 'Boys in the Trees'.
When did you meet the director, Nicholas Verso? I know you produced his short..
That was the first time we worked together, on The Last Time I Saw Richard (2014), but I'd seen some of Nicholas's short films before that. Nic and I started working on Boys in the Trees and then decided to make The Last Time I Saw Richard as a way of helping us put the feature together. A proof of our relationship and also showing Nicholas' style, so that when we were out talking about the feature we had something very concrete that people could hold on to.

Next Friday, Sept. 16, marks the release of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s latest film performance, “Snowden.” But before Gordon-Levitt took on such a weighty character, he starred in a 1991 Pop-Tart commercial as a responsible son who won’t let his dad leave for work before having the most important meal of the day. Watch: Bryan Cranston in an ’80s Soap Commercial “Hold on, Mr. Rushing-Out-the-Door,” he says, “You haven’t had your breakfast yet!” The 30-second spot shows how charming Gordon-Levitt was from the beginning of his career. He would go on to receive two Golden Globe nominations, leading roles in films such as “50/50” and “(500) Days of Summer,” and his own production company, Hitrecord. The Pop-Tart commercial seemed to mark a great year for the budding actor, who also landed his first recurring television role on “Dark Shadows.” Witness the natural talent that got Gordon-Levitt where he is today below! 1991: Joseph Gordon-Levitt booked a number of roles as a child actor, including guest spots on “Family Ties” and “Murder She Wrote,” but his first starring role was on ABC’s revival of ’60s gothic soap opera, “Dark Shadows.” The show, on which Jgl played David Collins, only lasted one season. 1994: In “Angels in the Outfield,” Jgl plays an adorable foster child who prays to God that the California Angels win the pennant so he can have a family again. God answers by sending a pack of angels, led by Christopher Lloyd, to help out the struggling ball club.

As far as directorial debuts go, Jackson Stewart has a lot to be proud of with his first feature film, Beyond the Gates, which recently premiered at the 2016 Los Angeles Film Festival. Featuring performances from a strongly charismatic cast, a really inventive story concept, fantastic practical effects, and a whole lot of heart that shines through from start to finish, Beyond the Gates feels precisely like a movie I would have rented with friends on a Friday night growing up, and I adored the hell out of it.
Beyond the Gates follows two brothers, Gordon (Graham Skipper) and John (Chase Williamson), who have returned home after their father’s disappearance in order to close up his home video store and deal with the rest of his affairs. While going through their dad’s office, the pair stumbles across an old Vcr horror game called “Beyond the Gates”, which sparks a...

I first saw Joseph Gordon-Levitt in the 1991 television revamp (clever, right?) of the 1960s’ cult classic Dark Shadows. He was this super creepy kid who excelled at making the audience uncomfortable beneath his penetrating gaze. Who knew, more than twenty years ago, that that creepy kid would grow up to become one of Hollywood’s […]

Life is ephemeral. Nothing lasts forever, least of all your favorite streaming movies and TV shows on Netflix. It used to be you could go to third-party websites to find out when movies would be expiring from Netflix’s streaming service, but no more. Now the only place to find that information is on individual listings within Netflix’s own website or apps. How are we to know which films we never got around to watching that we’ll be missing in a few days?
Well, where there’s a will there’s a way. In this case, that way is through the seedy back alley of the Internet known as Reddit, where one user was kind enough to list all the various films and TV shows that will no longer be on Netflix after the first of the year. Here is that very list:

Before he was the writer-director-star of Don Jon, or the do-it-yourself impresario behind hitRECord.org, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was a kid actor. For the current Entertainment Weekly cover story, we talked with the one person who vividly remembers those early jobs — his mom.
The kid’s first job was so miserable his mother doubted there would be many more. After enduring months of auditions in 1987, 6-and-a-half-year-old Joseph Gordon-Levitt had finally landed a TV commercial for Sunny Jim peanut butter. “It was a cute Little Rascals kind of set,” Jane Gordon recalls. “The children were dressed in 1920s clothes, sitting on this log under a big tree,...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt seems to popping up everywhere these days. He's like the human version of dandelions; can't step through a field without knocking over 5-7. In 1991 he was in the series Dark Shadows and I'm sure a lot of you remember him in 3rd Rock from the Sun. With an eclectic resume it's no surprise he's seeking different projects, like being the only human among aliens. Slated for a summer 2014 release date, Marvel Studios will present Guardians of the Galaxy.

Feature James Clayton Dec 21, 2012
With 2012 drawing to a close, James looks back over the year's movies - as seen from a strange alternate universe...
So 2012, then. Helluva ride, huh? I saw many films and some of them were films within films and films about films and now we’ve all ended up in a disaster movie of our own at the arrival of the Mayan apocalypse that Mel Gibson warned us about way back when. We didn’t even get to enjoy Christmas.
Never mind though. Before Jaguar Paw came screaming out of the Mesoamerican rainforest and we all perished as doomsday struck, we watched some brilliant movies. The past calendar year has been packed with superb cinematic releases, and looking back from the other side of oblivion, I see that we were spoiled.
Unfortunately, from this standpoint on the flipside of forever, I can’t actually see the old timeline of reality.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who stars in the new, critically-acclaimed film "Lincoln," has been appearing on screen for two decades straight ... and he's only 31.
Many of Gordon-Levitt's early years were spent on popular TV shows including, "Roseanne" and "Family Ties," and in honor of Flashback Friday, you can watch his adorable face on those shows and more below!
In 1988, Gordon-Levitt appeared in two episodes of "Family Ties" as Dougie, a kindergarten friend of the youngest Keaton, Andrew (Brian Bonsall).
A couple of years later, in 1991, he joined the TV adaptation of "Dark Shadows" and stayed on the NBC series for 11 episodes until its cancellation. Gordon-Levitt played both Daniel Collins and his modern day descendant David. Watch him do his best screaming below.
And finally, we have Gordon-Levitt's four-episode stint on "Roseanne," where he grew up in front of audiences' eyes. In 1993, he played George, the Conners' neighbor and DJ's (Michael Fishman) very boring friend.

Strong ticket sales is welcome news for cinema chains, and marks a benchmark for Joseph Gordon-Levitt in lead role
The winner
Just when it looked as if September was going to go by without a single film opening above £2m, Looper arrives to kick some much-needed life into a sickly UK box office. Its three-day gross of £2.43m is hardly record-shattering, but following a run of films opening around or under £1m – Killing Them Softly, The Sweeney, Dredd, Lawless, Anna Karenina – it is welcome news for the nation's cinema chains. It's also a new benchmark for Joseph Gordon-Levitt in a lead role. Premium Rush recently debuted with a disappointing £115,000 from 159 cinemas. Last November, 50/50, co-starring Seth Rogen, kicked off with £410,000 from 228 venues. In 2009, (500) Days of Summer began its run with £1.24m, including £383,000 in previews. Debuts of films such as Inception and The Dark Knight Rises, where Gordon-Levitt is not the lead actor,...

In his new film, "Premium Rush," which hits theaters this weekend, Joseph Gordon-Levitt goes on an adrenaline-induced bike ride as a messenger delivering more than just any ordinary package. Playing Nick Emery, the actor takes to the streets of NYC on a wild chase around Manhattan when he picks up an envelope of valuable interest to one of the city's dirty cops.
But before he was everyone's favorite Joe, Gordon-Levitt started his career in television.
He had a recurring role on a few shows: the small screen version of "Dark Shadows" as David Collins/Daniel, "The Powers That Be" as Pierce Van Horne, and on "Roseanne" as George, a talkative kid that manages to annoy everyone. He later found fame starring as a teenage alien (who was part of a very human-looking family) in "3rd Rock From the Sun."

I write an article at movies.com called Trailer Truth. Here are the three latest I’ve written. Give it some love, comments, tweets, Facebook affection.
I never watch a trailer until after I’ve seen the movie, and I also attempt to avoid as much news as possible. Then I compare what I knew, to what you knew. Let’s find out if what we see in the trailer is what we get, and if there is any advantage to going in fresh. (There will be spoilers.)
The Amazing Spider-Man
What I Knew Before: Look, I’ve heard of Peter Parker before. Though I was never fully obsessed, I probably owned close to fifty Spider-Man comics. I consider Spider-Man 2 one of the three best superhero films (along with The Incredibles and The Dark Knight). I was also ready for a tonal shift after the messy and overblown Spider-Man 3.

To Mark the recent release of Strippers Vs Werewolves on DVD and Blu-ray comes a new battle between both sides of the monstrous mash-up.
Kaleidoscope's British comedy-horror flick sees sleazy werewolf Mickey (Martin Kemp) killed in a strip club. The girls who work there have until the next full moon before his bloodthirsty brethren seek murderous retribution. Among the cast is glamour model and former Celebrity Big Brother contestant Lucy Pinder (above).
So who leads the pack in the film world as a whole? An infographic from the film's publicity people (see below) ranks the contenders.
Vying for the title of Sexiest Stripper are Heather Graham in The Hangover, Jennifer Beals in Flashdance, Demi Moore in Striptease, Jessica Alba in Sin City and Salma Hayek in From Dusk Till Dawn.
The contenders for Scariest Werewolf were: Taylor Lautner's character Jacob in the Twilight films; Michael J. Fox's Scott...

*spoiler alert.
Director: Patrick Dinhut.
Writer: Frank H. Woodward.
Cast: Velizar Binev, Sarah Brown and Andy Clemence.
Very rarely will one of SyFy’s Saturday night products truly entertain. The tale developed in Black Forest is an ominous one. Also, this film stitches in a bit of Guillermo del Toro’s style as well. Both films like to have most of the action take place at night and include that doubtful deunouemont.
Also, writer Frank Woodward certainly knows his lore about faeries (not fairies) and expands on it. The difference is not just in the spelling, but also in what they represent. While most people associate the Fae with Celtic tradition, namely in the UK, they are also known far and wide to include the Germanic world. After Woodward’s work in the extras found in the “Masters of Horror” DVD releases, he demonstrates how much he has learned.

2012 is poised to be a very big year for the movie industry. With several high profile ‘blockbusters’ set to release, many movie buffs are crossing their fingers that all of their anticipated films meet, or exceed, their expectations. The staff here at Tmp isn’t immune to these high expectations either, so we’ve come together to bring you our lists for the most anticipated of 2012.
While it’s no surprise that many of us here at Tmp don’t always agree on our films, I think I can safely say that there are two films that will be on all of our lists. So rather than have them keep popping up for all of us, I’m going to go ahead and knock them out right now: The Dark Knight Rises and The Avengers.
These two films are no-brainers and they keep popping up on just about every one's...
