Full disclosure - I did direct this film and wish to take this opportunity to introduce it to the world. It is a micro-budget sci-fi epic about a universe of warring robots and mechanical monsters. A lot of time, duct tape and recyclables went into the making of the movie and it just recently won for Best Fantasy at the Supercon Geek Film Festival. All due respect to "Mad TV" and "Dirty Work" fans, but for this writer Artie Lange's greatest performance will always be his eight-year run on "The Howard Stern Show." From 2001 to 2009, the gravelly-voiced comedian worked as the King of All Media's brash, no-nonsense, fan-beloved sidekick, a role that brought him his greatest career success ("It was the closest I ever felt to being a rock star") but also brought his personal demons to the fore. His stint on the show came to an abrupt and chilling end in January 2010, when Lange, at that time addicted to heroin, was hospitalized for eight months following a suicide attempt (an episode he has discussed publicly and wrote about in his 2013 memoir "Crash and Burn"). Five years on from his terrifying downward spiral, Lange has rebounded and continues to work, performing standup gigs and making guest appearances on TV shows including "Louie" and Californication.

In the early 90s Full Moon dipped their toe into the giant-robot market with three films that, in the intervening years, have gained somewhat of a cult following – Robot Jox, Crash and Burn and this latest DVD release from 88 Films, Robot Wars.
Toward the end of the 21st Century two great powers dominated the world, a division that resulted from a 30-year war known as the War of the Hemispheres. The war came to an end with the creation of giant, indestructible mega-robots designed for military missions and balance of power. Recently, the mega-robot has become a tourist attraction and is used for tours through the wasteland. While on one such tour, the Mras-2 is attacked by an extremely violent terrorist group known as the Murdaggians.

That’s if her confession of killing Wilden was fuelled by good intentions and not because a) she actually did kill him or, b) she’s covering for someone else. We all knew that Hanna wouldn’t be able to go through with her plan to take her mother’s place, even though it was fairly logical since she’s right – whatever they’d do to a seventeen-year-old cop killer is probably a lot better than what they’d do to her mother.

Nick: He probably will eventually. Toby's quick brush off of the folder sent off a bunch of warning bells to Caleb. The "blonde girl" will probably turn out to be the same person (although I doubt it's the "A" we're looking for), so Toby will have to share eventually. P.S. The final scene of this week’s Pretty Little Liars was completely unnecessary given how much Emily had already mucked up her life (and her mother’s) so spectacularly and, the way the Liars are going this season, they don’t need any help getting into trouble. The whole story with Ashley Marin and Wilden’s murder may or may not have anything to do with A, for example, and Emily stealing the key from her mum’s desk was just another one of those self-destructive moments that make this show so frustrating to watch at times.

Another week, another uneven episode of Pretty Little Liars.
"Crash and Burn, Girl!" showcased some more emotional drama for Hanna and some Scooby-Doo action from Team Taleb, but most of the girls had little to do. The "smash and bang" at the episode's end continued the show's pattern of waiting until the last minutes for any excitement.
Plus, I'm pretty sure all these "answers" we're getting are just a stall tactic.
Hanna's appearances in this episode served mostly to underscore how lost she really is. She spends much of the episode looking devastated and red-nosed, which spurs her friends to come to her aid. Emily and Spencer put aside their differences for the time being, and the whole team raids Wilden's apartment for clues. Too bad their search yields only a box of rotten steaks and cryptic A message!
A more successful investigation is undertaken by the new dynamic duo...

When we last left our "Pretty Little Liars," Ashley Marin was arrested for Det. Wilden's murder and Mikey went on a vandalism spree -- though it'd be awesome (and creepy) if that was not Mike, but Mr. Fitz.
Aria
In the Arialand of Aria problems, Connor and his dad want Mike suspended and hanged for the car vandalism. Byron steps in, after getting the whole story from Aria, and yet seems pretty helpless because it takes Ezra to point out to the vice principal that there are no prints or witnesses, so why on earth should the school suspend Mike?
It's not like this is some fancy private school and Connor's dad is a donor, giving the veep a reason (B.S. reason, but still) to do what Connor's dad says. But the vice principal should have figured this one out on his own. Or Byron should've brought it up.

Hanna deals with the fallout from Ashley's arrest, and Toby and Caleb join forces to investigate 'A.' Read on to find out what the Pretty Little Liars writers have in store for us this week.

Check out these preview clips and pictures from "Pretty Little Liars" episode "Crash and Burn, Girl!", airing next Tuesday, July 23.
Above, Emily's mom says a police officer suggested prolotherapy for Emily's shoulder. It's a series of injections for two months that could keep her out of surgery -- but money is a concern. Also, Mrs. F. wants Emily to leave Hanna alone for a while.
Below, Aria and Mike talk about Connor's smashed car -- Aria is definitely suspicious of Mike bieng the culprit. Do you think he did it? It couldn't be Mr. Fitz, right? That'd be weird.
Finally, Toby and Caleb's bromance kicks off, wondering about the pilot/plane from the night of the fire -- who is this Nigel Wright? It would appear we're supposed to think the lighter Toby found is his -- the Nw in north-by-northwest.
If you'll remember, Nigel is also Jenna's boytoy from Wilden's funeral.

"Pretty Little Liars" is known for bringing new faces to Rosewood each season and Season 4 is no different. We first spotted the new face in the pictures that were released earlier this month of the Season 4 premiere, "A is for A-l-i-v-e," identified as actor Wyatt Nash in the photo caption.
Now Zap2it can reveal just who this new mystery man is. Nash has been cast as Nigel, who accompanies Jenna to the funeral in the premiere, then reappears in episode 7, titled "Crash and Burn, Girl!"
ABC Family tells us that Nigel is "savvy, charming and confident." And while Nigel "may have a darker side," we won't see his darker nature on the surface. Nash has previously been on "1600 Penn" and "Hollywood Heights."
Check out all the Season 4 premiere pics here.
We can't wait to find out just how Nigel fits into the Liars' world. "Pretty Little Liars" premieres Tuesday,...

With Pacific Rim on the horizon, what better time to look back at the 1989 giant robot flick, Robot Jox...
Soon, cinemas everywhere will unleash the giant robot warriors of Guillermo del Toro’s vivid imagination with Pacific Rim, due to open in July. And from what we’ve glimpsed so far in its trailers, boy are these babies going to rock. But this isn’t the first time we’ve seen humans pilot giant mecha in the movies - back in 1989, director Stuart Gordon brought us the cult spectacular, Robot Jox.
Snow blows across a barren Siberian wasteland and a howling wind can be heard. Aside from a few scattered trees, the desolate landscape is strewn with huge broken, burnt out metal body parts. Suddenly another severed limb - this one looks like an arm - crashes to the ground, sparks still flying where...

Fantasy film continues to work its wizardry while Side Effects and Welcome to the Punch follow the yellow brick road to the top
The winner
Facing relatively weak fresh competition from new releases, Oz the Great and Powerful managed a decent hold, declining 30% from the previous weekend for a 10-day total of £7.7m. That's enough for eighth place among 2013 releases so far, behind Les Misérables (£39.9m), Wreck-It Ralph (£22.0m), Django Unchained (£15.4m), The Impossible (£13.2m), A Good Day to Die Hard (£10.6m), Lincoln (£8.5m) and Quartet (£8.2m). Oz is certain to overtake the last three in that list, and Disney will be hoping for a lot better than that, especially with Easter still to come. But it's clear that the film is nowhere in the same league commercially as Oz producer Joe Roth's Alice in Wonderland, which reached a hefty £37.8m here in 2010.

With AMC's "The Walking Dead" regularly trouncing the broadcast networks in ratings these days, it's no surprise that everyone's looking to get into business with the show's executive producer Gale Anne Hurd. She got a pilot order for WWII alien invasion drama "Horizon" at USA Network, NBC's working with her on an adaptation of Jeffrey Archer’s CIA assassin novel "The Eleventh Commandment" and AMC's developing a series about Area 51 with her. The most recent network to get into business with Hurd is FX, who according to Deadline have put a new project from her and Universal Cable Productions called "Crash and Burn" into development. Loosely inspired by Kevin Conley's 2009 nonfiction book "The Full Burn: On the Set, at the Bar, Behind the Wheel, and Over the Edge with Hollywood Stuntmen," "Crash and Burn" is a period drama about Doc Dixon, who works as a stuntman in the '70s in.

The perilous world of the Hollywood stuntman seems ripe for exploring in a TV series, perhaps one in which that stuntman also drives a boss pickup truck and chases down fugitives in his off-hours with the help of a perky blonde, and also he’s Lee Majors. But FX has gone in a decidedly different direction with its in-development series Crash And Burn, a slightly more realistic spin on the world of movie fakery following stuntmen in the ‘70s, that pre-digital era before all stunts were performed by hurling computers off of tall buildings. The project from Walking Dead producer ...

Exclusive: FX has put in development Crash And Burn, a drama project from The Walking Dead executive producer Gale Anne Hurd and Universal Cable Prods. It is written by Jeffrey Lieber (Necessary Roughness) and loosely inspired by the non-fiction book The Full Burn by Kevin Conley. Crash And Burn tells the story of Doc Dixon, a man trying to survive as a Stuntman during the anything goes world of pre-computer-generation, post Vietnam San Fernando Valley, California. He’s trying to save his family, hold together his union, and live to see 50… all with the understanding that if his work doesn’t kill him… the weekends probably will. This marks Ucp’s first project for FX. “Our partners at Valhalla continue to bring us compelling material, and this provocative world of stuntmen in the 70′s is a perfect fit for FX,” the studio’s Svp Maira Suro said. Under its deal with Ucp,...

"Crash and burn, huh, Mav?" Well, it looks like the long-in-development sequel to the Tony Scott/Tom Cruise aerial actioner Top Gun is down and out after the famed director's death a few months ago. Just prior to his death, Scott had been working with Cruise, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie on the planned sequel, which had finally picked up some steam and looked to shoot relatively soon. According to the New York Times, the film is now in...

The following is an essay by William Gibson, written as the introduction for the book "Punk: An Aesthetic" [Rizzoli, $55.00] by Johan Kugelberg:
My punk, on reflection, in the light of twenty-first-century prosthetic memory platforms, wasn’t very punk at all. Not in 1977, anyway.
Where I had been more Stones than Beatles, 1977 saw me more Clash than Pistols, but not really all that wildly Clash. My primary ’77 diet, Google and Wikipedia now suggest, consisted of Stiff acts, idiosyncratic pub rock: Costello, Dury, Lowe, Wreckless Eric even. I liked that stuff quite a lot and still do, and whereas I would have been delighted to meet other people who liked that stuff as well, I was more likely then to meet people who spent their lives ticking off the artists and bands they had decided utterly sucked. Eventually, I sensed, they’d tick off all of my current favorites. And I hated that.

It’s not your average phone call – “Would you like to be in a film with Seth Rogen? And Oscar-nominated Michelle Williams will be there too. Oh, and all your clothes are going to fall off.”
Luke Kirby with Michelle Williams in Take This Waltz
Luke Kirby, best known for his role of Jimmy Burn in TV's Crash and Burn, admits the day he got his role in Take This Waltz wasn’t an average one, “It’s the kind of call you dream about… I knew the director Sarah Polley from way back, but the rest of the cast was amazing. And they never let me down.”
Filming wasn’t average either. Take This Waltz tells the story of Margot (Williams), happily married to Lou (Rogen), a chef intent on creating the perfect chicken recipe, which makes her the beneficiary of delicious meals as well as constant laughter and security.
