During the festival, before the reenactment that puts the story into action, the Governor (William Frankfather) arrives and introduces himself to the Council Chief, and then to the Head Man (the uncredited Leonard Mountain Chief) and his wife (Molly Kicking Woman). The Head Man of a pow-wow is the honored male dancer, usually an elder of his people, who is named and leads out the dancers in the opening song of the pow-wow.
The Governor and the Head Man pose for a photo, but while they act like they're posing for a still photo, the cameraman is pointing a video camera at them.

Neither of the lead characters - Sonny Crowkiller (Billy Wirth) nor Skitty Harris (Kevin Dillon) are portrayed by American Induan actors. Both are of predominantly Irish descent.
The film only got a partial release in Britain as the distributors weren't sure what to do with it,
