Adolfo (Miguel Rellan) reunites with his old teacher , Father Benito (José Sazatornil , ¨Saza¨) , to confess him the murders he committed long time ago . Adolfo reminds his adolescent time in Francoist regime when Catholicism was extremely settled down in society and he was a young boy usually praying , and a very religious person , his relationship with brother (Juanjo Artero) who had an affaire with the servant (Maribel Verdú) and friendship with the rascal student Emilio (Gavino Diego) . Then , Adolfo attempts just to save the soul of the people he loved by whatever means .
Emotive dramedy about childhood and adolescence with engaging interpretation , adequate cinematography and acceptable direction .The film contains human drama , emotion , amusing events , complemented with brief touches of black humor . These elements provide the setting for this period piece , giving it its own special quality and ambient . In addition , there are brief exploration about way of life the sixties in which the religious repression and the Catholic spirituality were really taken root in the Spanish society . There stands out the enjoyable interpretation , atmospheric photograpy and evocative production design . Starring Juan Diego Botto gives a good acting , as well as Gabino Diego playing the mischievous pupil always in trouble, a young Maribel Verdú as the gorgeous maid , Juanjo Artero as the unfortunate sibling and two veteran and always excellent actors : Miguel Rellán , José Sazatornil , along with Francisco Vidal as Padre Crisóstomo .
It displays a colorful and evocative cinematography by Antonio Pueche. As well as lively and appropriate musical score by by early deceased Bernardo Bonezzi. Being competently produced by Gerardo Herrero . Gerardo is a famous producer as well as filmmaker . He was President of the Spanish Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (1994-1994) . Great producer of big hits , being especially known for The Secret of your ears (2009), Sin Retorno (2010) , Balada Triste de Trompeta (2010) , Crimenes De Oxford (2008) and El Hijo De La Novia (2001). He also directed some good films such as : ¨Silencio En Nieve¨ , ¨Corredor Nocturno¨ , ¨Principio Arquímedes¨ , ¨Crimen Galindez¨ , ¨Frontera Sur¨, ¨Territorio Comanche¨ , ¨Desvio a Paraíso¨ , ¨Al Acecho¨ and ¨Heroína¨ . Being well and professionally directed by José María Carreño , a writer/filmmaker with a brief career . As he wrote : Ovejas negras 1977 , Los libros (TV Series) : El club de los suicidas (1977) and In memoriam 1977 . He directed Serie negra (TV Mini-Series) : General, dicen que el amor es algo maravilloso (1994) and Crónicas del mal (TV Series) and his only film : Ovejas Negras . Rating : 6.5/10 . Sympathetic and agreeable Spanish black comedy .
