Trivia
In the years between Ghostbusters (1984) and this film, The Real Ghostbusters (1986) introduced the idea that Slimer was living at the firehouse as the Ghostbusters' pet. Because the original film and the cartoon series were so popular with children, they put Slimer in the film.

Goofs
Ray, Egon, and Winston go down into the sewer to examine the slime. Winston is using a measuring device to see how deep it is when he is pulled towards the slime. Egon and Ray try to hold him back, and one of them calls Winston "Ernie."

Quotes
Egon: My parents didn't believe in toys.
Ray: You mean you never even had a Slinky?
Egon: We had part of a Slinky. But I straightened it.

Crazy credits
Slimer is credited as a cast member during the closing title sequence.

Alternate versions
Aside from several minor dialog changes because of translation issues, the German-dubbed version changed the baby's name from Oscar to Donald.

Tedious retread sequel never reaches the heights of the first Ghosbusters. It just feels like the guys got back together to goof off and get paid for it. Bill Murray seems alternately amused and bored throughout the film. The rest go through the motions. As for new faces, Peter MacNicol is extremely annoying, basically playing the role Rick Moranis played last time. Moranis actually reprises his role but has nothing to do and is shoehorned into things with irritating results. It's not a bad movie. It's enjoyable enough due to the likability of their stars but the story is weak and there's nothing memorable about the whole thing.
