Although there are many 50s cars in this film, a photo of John F. Kennedy appears in the newspaper hinting that this is the early 60s, but it also mentions John Travolta and his role in Grease (at least in German version). Thus, the events of this film take place at least in the late 70s, that is, approximately twenty years after the events of the first movie.
