The title longarm is retained from the books. That is about all. A deputy U.S. Marshal with an eye for the ladies in the old west. Other than that the movie has absouloutly nothing in common the the Tabor Evans books. The clothes, location, weapons, and Longarm without a Mustache is like the Mona Lisa without a smile. This movie seldom shows up on the air. One veiwing can tell you why.

I can only speak from memory as I haven't seen the movie for nearly 2 decades (so please if anyone has a copy). However as I recall it was a rather mild family friendly western (that is by todays standards it was a bit risky for the time). If you are lucky enough to find it don't read the books and give this a watch.
So I found it last night and watched it, still love it. Side note give it a watch without the kids first no spoilers but it may have been a poor role model heading in to high school.
