As 1923 comes to a close, Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone universe is beginning to pick up all the remaining loose ends to tie them together. His masterful ability to tell the story of five generations of Duttons in a comprehensive 3 series arc is a feat in itself. Understandably, Sheridan would not leave one of the strongest and most memorable core Dutton clan members out in the cold.

Despite 1923 charting the story of Jacob and Cara Dutton, the focus has been just as much on the younger generation, starring Brendan Sklenar as Spencer Dutton. As the younger brother of the 1883 protagonist, Elsa Dutton, the spotlight has belonged to Sklenar’s character throughout both seasons of the series.
Now, in the looming final moments, Sheridan seems to want to close the book on Spencer’s character by giving the audience a definitive ending to 1923.

The original True Grit builds to a single scene. John Wayne — as the craggy, veteran cowboy Rooster Cogburn — rides down a hill, shotgun in one hand, pistol in the other, the reigns of his horse clenched between his teeth. He charges forward, guns blazing, shooting four bad guys also on horseback to save the day. By 1969, audiences had become accustomed to seeing John Wayne as a cowboy hero saving the day. But True Grit, directed by Henry Hathaway, lionized Wayne’s image as a hero of cinema and showcased his charm as an actor.
It's no wonder that Wayne picked up the 1969 Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance as Rooster. Sadly, this was the only win of his otherwise legendary movie career. True Grit also arrived at a key transition point in cinema, when the standard Hollywood fare of the classic era began to feel antiquated. Wayne...

An absolute titan of the industry is sadly no longer with us. James Earl Jones, the prolific acting talent who made an indelible mark on cinema through his voice roles for Darth Vader in "Star Wars" and Mufasa in "The Lion King," has passed away at the age of 93. Jones' death was confirmed by Deadline, who report the legendary actor passed away at his home in Dutchess County, NY.
Jones appeared in several stone-cold classics such as "Dr. Strangelove," multiple "Star Wars" movies (as the iconic voice of Darth Vader), the "Coming to America" movies, "The Lion King," and "The Hunt for Red October," but his contributions to the arts go far beyond his most famous roles. Having first got his start in theater and television, his Broadway performances span the likes of "Of Mice and Men" in the 1970s, "Othello" in 1982, "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof" in 2008, and...

Dance First is a biographical drama film that attempts to present the unusual practices and nuances in the life of the Irish playwright and celebrated litterateur, Samuel Beckett. However, the academic or literary pursuits of the man do not take center stage in the film; instead, the various dilemmas, losses, and experiences in his personal life form the crux of the plot. Overall, Dance First stumbles at showing anything considerably new or interesting, and its formal experimentations appear too superficial, making it watchable only for the convincing performances by the cast.
Spoiler Alert
What is the film about?
Dance First begins inside a grand hall, where crowds have gathered to attend the award ceremony for the 1969 Nobel Prize in Literature, with many literary practitioners and their families seated inside. As the announcer gets up on the stage to announce the name of the winner, there is a momentary pause,...

Audiences who love historical dramas, brilliant literature, or resilient actors like the great Gabriel Byrne will appreciate Dance First, a somewhat illuminating biopic on literary genius Samuel Beckett. The Irish novelist/dramatist brought to the stage classic works such as Endgame, Happy Days, and Waiting for Godot, which is generating buzz again with the upcoming Broadway production starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter. The duo famously starred in the Bill & Ted films, and their unique pairing in Waiting for Godot will surely provoke thought at the least.
Thats the goal of Dance First as well. It's a curiously unusual work in that it reviews Becketts life through the lens of his more eye-opening mistakes. Rather than focus on the awards-bait power of his myriad achievements, director James Marsh (The Theory of Everything) and writer Neil Forsyth construct a film out of Becketts more treasured relationships and those he wronged,...

Godzilla Minus One created history on January 23 at the Oscars by being the first movie in the 70-year history of the Godzilla franchise to receive a nomination for Best Visual Effects. As of now, director Takashi Yamazaki, along with the rest of the crew, holds the distinction of being the first Japanese recipient of the Oscar for Best Visual Effects. A much-awaited win!
In addition to their exceptional work on Godzilla Minus One, Masaki Takahashi, Tatsuji Nojima, Kiyoko Shibuya, and Takashi Yamazaki were recognized with awards for Best Visual Effects. But the Academy recently faced criticism for treating a crew member of the 2023 Japanese epic Kaiju film disrespectfully, given that the member was having difficulty speaking English.

This incident has enraged many fans and industry professionals because it highlights a much larger problem: systemic discrimination in Hollywood.
