Victor was seen making a parachute jump from a De Havilland Beaver in the early 1930s. This airplane wasn't produced until after WWII and it was unlikely the Soviets would have used anything but a Russian-built aircraft.
Early in the film Victor was seen making a parachute jump from 24,500 feet. Neither he nor the pilot were wearing oxygen. At this altitude, hypoxia would occur within a couple of minutes which would incapacitate him and he would likely not have recovered in time to open a parachute.
