Dana Carvey said that Mickey Rooney was certain Carvey was gay. Rooney mocked Carvey about it in front of Nathan Lane, whom Rooney assumed was straight. Carvey found Rooney's confusion amusing.
Dana Carvey recounts in the book "Live from New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live" that "One of the Boys" was shot on the sixth floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza, and to clear his head, he would often go up to the eighth floor to watch Eddie Murphy rehearsing for Saturday Night Live (1975).
Years later, Carvey would impersonate Rooney on SNL. Carvey would also provide the voice of Rooney for the Hollywood podcast "You Must Remember This" about Judy Garland and Rooney.
Mickey Rooney and Francine Beers died 9 days apart from each other. Beers' being March 27, 2014 and Rodney's being April 6, 2014.
