The Tiffany Minx (1981)
*** (out of 4)
Hardcore thriller about a rich woman (Crystal Sync) who is attacked by a hired hit-man but instead of killing her he tries to rape her but this allows her to kill him. Her husband and his mistress think it's best for the wife to go to a beach resort but once there things take a turn for the worse. THE TIFFANY MINX comes from director Roberta Findlay and many consider this to be her greatest film. I've read several reviews that stated had Hitchcock made a porn film then it would have been something like this. I must say that had the great director made a porn film then it certainly would have been much better than this. With that said, there's no question that this is a pretty good movie when compared to other porn films but this obviously can't hold a candle to some of the great thrillers out there. Now, with that out of the way, Findlay obviously wants to do more than just film sex scenes with money shots so she pays a lot more attention to the actual story. For the most part the story flows pretty well as this woman doesn't quite understand why this guy attacked her but she slowly figures out why. I thought the film had a couple nice twists, although the big one is one I picked up on with some ease. The film also contains some pretty good performances with Sync doing a very good job and especially during the scenes where he characters seems to be losing her mind. Carter Stevens is good as the hit man and Robert Kerman of CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST fame is also good here. The film has a certain low-budget atmosphere that helps it and for the most part the director keeps things moving at a nice pace.
