The scenes of the "Goliath" at sea are taken from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953). The model was first used in Titanic (1953), and refurbished to resemble the Queen Mary.
The insignia on the cap badge on the peak cap worn by 3rd/Chief Engineer John McKenzie (Sir Christopher Lee) is that of the Cunard line, which would make the fictional R.M.S. Goliath a Cunard ship.
Portions of the movie were filmed aboard the Queen Mary.
Scenes of the U-boat underwater, and of the U-boat crew preparing to attack the R.M.S. Goliath were taken from The Enemy Below (1957).
Underwater scenes of the sonar pod and the pod descending from the hull of the research vessel at the beginning of the movie are taken from The Enemy Below (1957).
