World of Wonder has announced that they have licensed a 10-film collection from Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, The Elvira Collection, for their Wow Presents Plus streaming platform. The collection will feature some of Elvira’s best B-Movie horror camp features, and debuted in conjunction with the Grand Finale of RuPaul’s Drag Race this past Friday, where she was the recipient of the Giving Us Life-time Achievement Award.
The Elvira Collection includes episodes from Elvira’s Movie Macabre, an old-fashioned style horror movie marathon, hosted and commentated on by the Mistress of the Dark herself, also known as Cassandra Peterson. The collection will feature 10 classic films, including “Night of the Living Dead”, “The Terror”, “Scared To Death”, “A Bucket of Blood”, “The Manster”, “The House That Screamed”, “The Devil’s Wedding Night”, “Maneater of Hydra”, “The Killer Shrews”, “Gamera”, and “Super Monster”. Wow acquired the collection from Shout! Studios and...

With consecutive releases in the last couple of years, Netflix has amassed quite a number of kaiju-oriented pieces of content and, as a result, multiplied the count and types of monsters in its overall kaiju catalog. The Godzilla anime movies and series presented some of his iconic adversaries in a revamped look, while the Kong animated series introduced gigantic versions of tropical creatures as Titans; therefore, it was intriguing to see how the makers of Gamera approached his lore. In the animated venture debut of Gamera, all of his Showa-era kaiju enemies were introduced in the first season itself, and although their appearance and origin story were somewhat tweaked to match contemporary sensibilities, the creatures retained the essence of their original counterparts.

Claud is turning from Super Monster to Supermodels with their second album, due out July 14th on Saddest Factory. Ahead of its release, the Phoebe Bridgers associate has shared the new single “Every Fucking Time.”
Thematically, Supermodels deals with the universal trials of growing up, though Claud’s subject matter is likely turned up to 10 since they’ve grown up in the public eye. The LP — written after the artist toured with Bridgers and Bleachers and released on the heels of opening gigs for Paramore and Le Tigre — tracks Claud’s journey from their childhood bedroom to their own apartment in New York City. Pre-orders are ongoing.
“Every Fucking Time” begins with melancholy acoustic guitar as Claud looks back on a fraught relationship — if you can’t agree on the merits of Regina Spektor, how are you going to make it? “I can’t believe it when you say you love me/ ‘Cause with you,...

“Gamera: Guardian of the Universe” offers a fresh and much needed resurrection of the franchise that became largely outdated with the previous instalment of “Gamera: Super Monster“. Initially produced by the Showa studio, the series was taken over by Heisei in the 1990s. This marked not only the new start for Gamera as a brand; with the reboot, the kaiju series entered into the new era marked by the entry of CGI effects. Thus, the films made in that period proved to be more current and visually exciting.
When a military ship carrying 1000 tonnes of plutonium collides with a ‘mysterious’ floating atoll, any Gamera fan should be already able to tell what’s cooking. The atoll obviously turns out to be a giant turtle which rises from the sea just in time to protect planet Earth from Gyaos, a giant bat-like creature engineered by the ancient Atlanteans...

Gamera vs. Zigra / Gamera Super Monster Directed by: Noriaki Yuasa Written by: Nisan Takahashi Starring: Kôji Fujiyama, Daigo Inoue and Reiko Kasahara / Mach Fumiake, Yaeko Kojima and Yoko Komatsu Depending on who you are and what your past Gamera experience is like, Gamera Super Monster could be the single greatest giant monster epic ever. How could it not be? Gamera challenges six foes, goes on his own rampage, and saves the planet from something that looks like, but is certainly not due to legal issues, a Star Destroyer. The true Gamera fans are groaning though, knowing that nearly every single clip from the film is stock footage from of the previous Gamera outings, and the new footage is so cheaply done, it's to the point of unwatchable. Fast forwarding past the sheer nonsense that is presented here as narrative, (filled with so many glaring plot holes, logic gaps, and absurdities...
