Moushumi Chatterjee heard the story from Shakti Samanta and agreed. She had also committed her dates for the film. The next thing she knew Rakhee Gulzar's name was announced in the trade papers. She never knew why she was dropped from the film. One story doing the rounds was that Jaya Bachchan did not want Amitabh to work with her. Moushumi denied this story but also stated she has no idea why Amitabh was not signing any films with her.
