At the time Véronique Jannot is contacted to play in this movie, she is recovering at her parents' home from an hysterectomy after a cancer. She is only 22. During the shooting, she is still under chemo- and immunotherapy but keeps it secret from the whole crew except her hairdresser and her make-up artist. Because of the treatment adverse effects, she needs to have her make-up replaced two or three times every day. That is how Alain Delon eventually discovers the truth.
One scene is usually cut on TV: Harmony (Véronique Jannot) is holding the hand of an unconscious and seriously wounded soldier. When Dr Desprée (Alain Delon) enters the tent, he bluntly asks her what she is doing. Then he brutally draws back the blanket, and one can see the erect penis of the soldier (quite surprising for a 1979 movie). Then Dr Desprée harshly says: "It's not his hand he wants you to hold!".
