Pretty much the start of this sequel is same at the start of it's predecessor, plus a few other familarities, even plot. This non awesome foursome are practically pigs, two hunk sorts, plus the geek, and the fatty- CLICHE'D! Right. But too, it's very funny, much funnier than no one, and hot, but also entertaining as.... well you know. One of the things I think I like most, about this typical, did I say cliched, fun T and A comedy, and there's quite a few saucy honeys, not just schoolgirls, and we see them wholily and appreciatively. You never wanna see French in another light again, oh yeh, and she's SMOKIN HOT! You do have to admire it for it's audacity, and this is what this T and A flick is. But too, yes, but, this movie has an awesome title opening soundtrack. But again, a comedy with no substance, but all the guilty pleasures, ala 80's. The girls have brains for peanuts, loving the non awesome foursome's acts of vulgarity never offended or angry, and we too have a sort of Porky's Ms Ballbreaker head mistress, to keep the girls in line.

Has all the 80s sexual comedy tropes Names nudity music. It's super funny to go back and watch these type movies thru 2021 lens. They could never really make these type today and get away with it.
After watching this movie more than 6 or 7 times, it remains a hilarious experience.
Granted, not everyone will share my enthusiasm for the adventures of Marvin Eatmore, Steve Hardman, Hugh G. Rection, and Brad Lovett, but if you are willing to set your brain on neutral for an hour and a half, you WILL be entertained.
Basically the four guys, after failing grade 12 four times, are sent to Coxwell Academy for the summer as a last chance to get their high school diplomas. Their teenage libidos raging, the four quickly start a game to see who can score with the most girls that summer. It is best summarized by Brad, who offers, "10 points for every girl you score with, 5 for an almost, and 2 for a look-see." in their own creative ways, the four embark on a sexual journey full of mishaps and hilarity.
As an interesting side note, Canadian comedian Mike Macdonald fills the role of Principal Arsenault, out to ensure the boys' summer is a living hell.
Vying for the affection of both the principal and the guys is the French Teacher, Mona Lott (yes, that is her real name). Again, more hilarity ensues.
This movie is absolutely ridiculous, but outrageously funny. Granted, many of the jokes are rehashed from the original "Screwballs", "Loose Screws" offers its own unique take on a strip club journey, beach party, sneaking a boy into the girls' dorm, and a thrilling 'climax' at the end. Come on, how can a guy pretending to be a girl who is forced to have a bath, only to find a single tub left that he must share with an innocent co-ed who happens to be blinded by her missing glasses not funny?
On top of all this, the soundtrack is amazing, featuring such classics as The Extras "Circular Impression", "Screw It" and "Loose Screws."
Rent Loose Screws if you and some friends want to laugh harder than you have in a long time.
Enjoy!

It's pretty silly and it's the sequel to "Screwballs". A movie that is considered a classic by some. But while you can argue about the quality of the first movie (especially if you had watched it back in the day and like to reminisce about the good old days), it's almost impossible to find anything good in this one. It tries to up the ante, in the sex comedy department, but does not achieve it.
It even tries to copy some scenes (the first doctor related at the beginning), again upping the ante. But it doesn't achieve much. You have to have really low expectations to like this or have watched it back in the day too. Maybe though you can see through the mist of remembering that it is not funny at all. The main song also reminds me of "Footloose" a lot. I wonder if there was a controversy when the movie came out ... doesn't matter though.

Wow. This film is one giant double entendre.
It's a sequel to Screwballs and even has a Brian Murray look-a-like in the beginning. Pathetic.
The rest of the film is one double entendre joke after the next. Names of people, names of places, universities, schools. You name it. It's a double entndre.
Even the dialog is a series of double entendres. One after another, and another, and another. It goes on endlessly. It doesnt stop.
It's as if a literally 12 year old child wrote this script. What adult would find any of this funny?
You cant. It's horrible. Dumber than dumb times three. That I can tell you.

This film essentially follows in the footsteps of its predecessor with four high school boys getting in trouble with the principal due to sexual misconduct and subsequently being forced to attend summer school in order to graduate. Needless to say, none of them have learned any lessons from their past disciplinary actions and as a result they repeat the same behaviors that got them in trouble before. This time, however, their main focus is on the new French teacher by the name of "Miss Mona Lott" (Cynthia Belliveau) trying every trick they know to score with her. What they don't count on is the fact that "Principal Arsenault" (Mike MacDonald) has the same overall mindset as they do and seems to always appear at the worst possible time. Now rather than reveal any more I will just say that this was a rather dull comedy which featured poor acting, juvenile humor, awful music and a paper-thin plot. To be sure, there were a couple of attractive actresses featured in this film--with Cynthia Belliveau probably standing out the most-but even so their presence wasn't enough to make much of a difference overall.
The original Screwballs seemed to be beloved, however found it to be not great and quite overrated. Now this follow up two years later (since the original was apparently a success, a sequel would occur) was lesser in several ways.
The humor is just as bad and the over the top gimmicks don't exactly hit. One better aspect somewhat is that there are four main characters opposed to five. There were more focus on each individual which gave for a better story arc. The women were just as good, if not better. Lead by young French teacher Mona Lott- whom was the primary focus of the guy's attention.
This film follows similar gags seen in the original such as one of the characters dressing up as a woman to sneak into the women's area. A similar school swimming scene. Also the ending is very similar and predictable- the ultimate payoff occurs again and everyone seemed pleased.
Perhaps not as good or memorable as the original, though neither are great and essentially just films to watch not to deep think but to see skin. This is a slight downgrade.

Hey, this was one of a line of random movies we rent at parties. We didn't even know that it was the sequel to some other movie, maybe that's a good thing from what I've read. But all I know is that we laughed our heads off the whole movie and has been the best random movie that we rented so far. Now we'll have to go back and try to find that other movie before it.
"Loose Screws" is a radical party movie with an awesome, quasi-new wave & "fake rock" soundtrack. The lead actors are older, sleazy guys playing sex-crazed teenagers. When it comes to the females in this film, obviously "loose" is the operative word. This film delivers non-stop idiocy and perversion in a way that "Preppies" and other teen sex comedies of the day fail to live up to. There is no attempt to be sentimental or involve the characters in an annoying action sub-plot.
One of the best moments of the film occurs during the climax scene at the graduation assembly. The 4 main guys kind-of magically become a new wave-ish rock band and turn the entire ceremony into a party. Disregard other reviews that peg this film as garbage; those people JUST DON'T GET IT! This film delivers non-stop idiocy in a way that "Preppies" and many other teen sex comedies of the day fail to live up to. "Loose Screws" is truly unhinged!
FYI: The Summer school exteriors were filmed at St. Andrews College in Auroura, Ontario. Pay special attention to the scenes shot on a chilly, dismal Toronto "beach". There is also a great second-story-window-fall which looks really quite painful (couldn't afford a stunt man?). The soundtrack was never released, but one of the musical highlights is available on used vinyl: "Circular Impressions" by The Extras.

Loose Screws (1985)
* 1/2 (out of 4)
Sequel to SCREWBALLS finds four perverted guys getting sent to a school with plenty of women where they decide to play a rating game. For every girl they score with they get ten points but the main prize is a French teacher with big breasts. I'm still a little confused as why they'd punish perverts by sending them to a school with nothing but women. Anyways, this 80's teen-sex comedy is pretty bad no matter how you look at it. It's clear that the original movie made some money so this thing was rushed into production without much of a screenplay. Instead of any type of story we're just graced with scenes where one of the four men will be making out with a number of women who find them desirable. None of these scenes are all that erotic and it's rare for me to say this but even the nudity gets boring after a while. There's also very few laughs to be found here as the "stunts" and "games" played by the guys are all rather lame. The film tries hard to recapture the spirit of the first movie but it pretty much fails on all levels. Even the ending tries to copy the one in the original but it just doesn't work. The performances are certainly below average but I'll overlook this since we really don't come to these movies to see Oscar-winning performances. The characters aren't all that likable and it's really hard to care about anything going on. LOOSE SCREWS is a pretty poor movie that was made just to try and get some extra bucks off the first film's success.

Best tit and bum of the 80s. Massively sexist with stereotyping around every corner. The type of movie you'd have feminists rioting against these days. Just the names crack me up - miss von blow, principal arsenal, Hung Lo and his long lost brother Well Hung Lo, Steve Hardman, and who could forget Miss Mona Lot, the seductive French teacher. We had this movie on tape (with the stupid beach dance scene edited out) growing up. My twin brother and our mates watched it hundreds of times over the years. Get home pissed - put on 'loose screws'! Bored? 'Loose screws!. I still know +70% of the script despite not watching it full length for a few years. So many great corny lines. And the song where Marvin goes to the gym should be remixed into house.

LOOSE SCREWS reminds me of other lame sequels to sex romps. HOLLYWOOD HOTTUBS 2, BIKINI CAR WASH 3, EMMANUEL 34...the list goes on and on. And this film is no exception.
I liked the original film, SCREWBALLS. It was a silly comedy about five teen boys trying to get laid, and the many loose women and wacky adventures that the high schoolers encounter. It was a take on PORKY'S, but a much funnier one. There is genuine joy in SCREWBALLS, which is sorely lacking in LOOSE SCREWS.
Once again, we have characters trying to have sex, but the results are less funny this time. There's the fat guy, the nerdy guy, the womanizer: all of the cliches of the genre we have now come to expect. But, the cast is different, and the women are not the same ones from the original. While SCREWBALLS bordered on soft-core (granted very fun soft-core), LOOSE SCREWS is neutered. Nothing worse than a sex romp without sex.
Still, there are a few moments that made me laugh in this film, and maybe if you're feeling less discriminating one night, it's possible to enjoy the movie. Yet, after seeing SCREWBALLS, this film is a very pale second.
