Of all his movies, director Joe D'Amato has stated that he likes this one best.

One of a cycle of "Mad Max"-type films which were labeled as rip-offs of the second film in the Mad Max series, Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior (1981). These "Mad Max"-type films, many of them coming from Italy, included Stryker (1983), Battletruck (1982), 1990: The Bronx Warriors (1982), Escape from the Bronx (1983), Warriors of the Wasteland (1983), 2020 Texas Gladiators (1983), Steel Dawn (1987), The Exterminators of the Year 3000 (1983), and America 3000 (1986).

The film takes place in 2025.

The two pinball machines seen in the bar are Harlem Globetrotters On Tour(Bally) and Star Gazer(Stern). The latter is being played by a background actor.
