Rachel introduces us to her love, photographer Plantagenet Evans, who, she says, tends to be "more accurate than tactful". Her sister wants her to leave Evans. She explains that while she lives under his roof, she has her own apartment.

Rachel's sister and her husband inform the new vicar of their misgivings about Plantagenet Evans. Later, Rachel overhears some local gossip about her living arrangements in Evans's house, and Evans photographs a local dance team.

Plantagenet Evans complains about the fact his village never sees tourists, nor their cash. After climbing a hill to capture a 'local view' for the boardroom wall of a town business, he travels to a country church to photograph a wedding. While trying to negotiate for a more expensive series of pictures, he turns the bride against her father by revealing he's opted for the 'cheap, reduced, economy wedding package'. Returning to his desire to increase tourism, he arranges for a busload of tourists to divert to his village for a wild boar hunt - despite knowing that there are no longer any wild boars in Wales.

Evans is hired to photograph a local garage mechanic who has won a singing competition. When he arrives, he meets the mechanic's mother, whom Evans fancies as a potential model for a particular kind of calendar he has in mind.

Bron and Probert continue their efforts to convince Rachel to stop living under the same roof with her employer. Later, Evans insults a groom at yet another wedding photo shoot. All day, he tries in vain to sell an antique oval mirror.

Plantagenet finally proposes to Rachel. A foot injury is not enough to prevent him from making it to the church but Willie's carelessness with his wheelchair puts paid to everybody's plans.
