Is the movie based on the book?
The movie only borrowed some ideas and a few character names from the "Magic Warriors of Mount Shu" series of books by Huanzhulouzhu (Huan-Zhu-Lou-Zhu). The story is entirely new.
For example, in the movie: Ting Yin is the main good guy; Abbot Hsiao Yu is another good guy; Li I Chi has the double magic swords;
In the books: Deng Yin is a bad guy who became the Blood Demon; Abbot Hsiao Yu is another bad guy; Li Ying Chiong has the purple sword only (and is the principle character); The Countess, Heaven's Blade, and the three young characters do not exist
