The English dubbed version, released through Warner Brothers, was the film that launched the craze for "kung fu" movies in the United States.
The "anger siren" sound used in this film comes from Quincy Jones' theme to the American TV series Ironside (1967).
Five Fingers of Death preceeded the American "Kung Fu" TV series as the igniter of the karate craze that started up so many new schools across the USA. In the US, it was released as Five Fingers of Death with some rather funny translation in the dubbing to English. It is now being marketed on DVD as King Boxer, which was its original title in the Chinese. The King Boxer DVD is nice because it provides the English dub as well as the option to view the film in the original Chinese, and subtitles are available.
