A poster of this film appears in the pilot Episode of 'The Jamie Foxx Show' (1996).
A novelization of the film was authored by writer Peter Crowcroft and first published by book publisher Pocket in the film's 1973 release year as a movie-tie with the picture's theatrical season.
Universal was set to release a three picture deal featuring the character Jefferson Bolt as a black James Bond. Even though they only made the one movie, Fred Williamson was still paid for the three films.
One of the movie posters for That Man Bolt (1973) had a tagline that read ''He's BONDED!''. This referenced the successful James Bond film franchise. The picture was released in the same year as the Bond movie Live and Let Die (1973). Both features had blaxploitation genre story elements. Moreover, the movie was partly filmed in Hong Kong where the next Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun (1974) also shot with both of these pictures sharing the word ''man'' in their titles.
David Lowell Rich replaced Henry Levin as the movie's film director. This was due to illness of the latter.
