One of Bert Convy's leading ladies, Lynda Day George, was also a frequent guest star on Convy's game show "Tattletales."
The movie's premise was nearly identical to the comedy Shampoo (1975), with the protagonist striving to open his own tennis court rather than hair salon. Edie Adams' eccentric, nymphomaniacal character was clearly fashioned after Lee Grant's role in the earlier film.
The movie was tested when it first played in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, where it went up against another debuting sports movie, The Champ (1979). Reportedly, it beat that movie there at the box-office during its opening frame.
This tennis club comedy was released in the same year as the tennis romantic-drama Players (1979). Both films actually hit off their debuts in the same month, in June 1979.
When actor Bert Convy received the first script re-write, the screenplay had become more bawdy and adult, and at that point, Convy turned down the film.
