Robin Sherwood said that she spent a lot of time in France growing up so Ralph Gaby Wilson wrote a French/American character especially for her. But Michael Miller, the director, decided that Betty Thomas should get that role. It was completely rewritten and Sherwood was given a very insignificant part instead. She said it was a slap in the face, and she suspected it was because Miller didn't like that she was married to a producer he was a partner with at the time.
