When God of War 2018 first came out, it received near-universal acclaim for its deeply moving narrative, satisfyingly developed characters, and intense, revamped combat. It took Kratos on a more personal journey, one that resonated well with both long-time fans and newcomers and quickly became one of Santa Monica Studio’s defining achievements.

Yet, when we look back on the time leading up to its release, all we remember are fans who were anything but convinced. Cory Barlog and his team’s daring creative choices left many feeling skeptical, leading to a wave of backlash that took Santa Monica Studio by surprise.

If Hollywood is good at anything, it’s seeing what hits big at the box office and then churning out a hundred clones of that product until it gets driven into the ground. We see it all the time. One such incident came around the release of the 1978 film Halloween. Once it began to rack up box office numbers, everyone scrambled to put out their own slasher film, preferably built around a holiday. This led to a glut of slasher films – which, if you’re a slasher fan like myself, was a fantastic time to be alive. Let’s look at the best Halloween rip-offs.
Offerings (1989)
Offerings might be the most egregious rip-off Halloween there could be. A young kid accidentally falls down a well while playing with a group of kids. Some of them scare him as he’s walking along the edge, and he hits his head.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Box Office: Kartik Aaryan Needs To Earn Gigantic 1563 Crore To Dethrone Stree 2 (Photo Credit – Facebook/Instagram)
Kartik Aaryan’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is all set to arrive in the theaters on November 1 and the advance booking of the film ensures that it would be a good Diwali for the actor. However, if we talk about the targets then he might have a tough nut to crack since the horror-comedy genre is now a new game altogether after Stree 2’s mammoth success!
Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 Box Office Opening
While looking at the clash probabilities, it already seems an unfair assumption for Kartik Aaryan’s film that it might cross the opening day collection of the previous horror comedy – Stree 2 that opened at the box office at 65 crore.
Bb 3 is arriving on November 1 and will be clashing with two South Indian films – Kanguva and Amaran apart from...

Ajay Devgn Has Faced 8 Box Office Clashes On Diwali Since 2000(Photo Credit – YouTube)
Ajay Devgn is all set to lock horns with Anee Bazmee’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 with his Singham Again on November 1. This would be the third clash for the superstar this year. He battled out on Eid with Akshay Kumar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and Maidaan failed disastrously.
In August, the Shivaay superstar yet again locked horns with Janhvi Kapoor’s Ulajh, where Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha tanked, turning into another disaster. The actor is now ready to redeem himself at the box office with his biggest and most successful character on screen!

Vidya Balan & Madhuri Dixit In A Glimpse From Bhulaiyaa 3 Song Ami Je Tomar 3.0! (Photo Credit – YouTube)
Trust me when I say this, if there was anything that could have lightened my Diwali this year, it was the only hope to witness Madhuri Dixit and Vidya Balan Ami-Je-Tomaring together in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. In fact, I was so excited about this heavenly union of the two legends of the Indian Cinema that I even chose to ignore an underwhelming trailer that was compensated by just a glimpse of these two actresses!
But some dreams should never turn into a reality. And as heartbreakingly as I realize, I do realize that anticipating this union, probably with so much excitement, could have jinxed this song that has finally been released, and oh my god – what did I just see!

X-Men ’97 took the world by storm with its debut, smashing together a slew of X-Men stories and delivering a first season that fans can’t help but watch again and again. However, the supposed engineer behind the show, Beau DeMayo, has found himself fired from the job, and there also seems to be some restructuring going on the part of Disney to make the show less in line with what DeMayo had in mind.
A scene from X-Men ‘97 (image credit: Marvel)
Perhaps owing to this, a report has pegged the premiere date of the sophomore season of the show in 2026, which indicates that Marvel fans will be without any sort of proper X-Men content for the better part of a year and a half.

John Boyega's best performance is in the Small Axe film "Red, White & Blue" showcasing his range and talent. The film explores the challenges Leroy faced while trying to change the Metropolitan Police from within. Boyega's potential in Star Wars wasn't fully tapped; Finn could have been a driving force but was underutilized.
Years after he first appeared as Finn in the Star Wars films, John Boyega's best performance can be found in a criminally underseen part of the Small Axe anthology that boasts a 97% Rotten Tomatoes score. Boyega was impressive in his role as Finn in the sequel Star Wars trilogy, even as the films steadily shifted focused away from him and more towards Daisy Ridley's Rey or Adam Driver's Kylo Ren. Through a mix of magnetic sweetness and understated drive, Boyega was able to elevate Finn's storyline and deliver a strong performance.

You can’t understate how excited fans of Warhammer 40K are for Space Marine 2, but that energy might have to be put on hold.
A recent Reddit post has stirred up some disappointment, as The Power Axe, a beloved weapon from the first game, might not be making it to the sequel. However, all hope isn’t lost. Fans feel it might be added later on, thanks to one big reason.
Don’t Expect to See This Weapon in Space Marine 2
For those unfamiliar with the Thunder Axe, it was a fan-favorite in the original game, known for its sheer power and satisfying combat mechanics. Many players expected it to make a return in Space Marine 2, but it seems that won’t be the case. Initially, at least.

Imagine Kratos, the god-slaying warrior from God of War, going toe-to-toe with Godzilla, the King of the Monsters. It’s a wild thought, but Reddit loves these kinds of “who would win?” battles.
And honestly, seeing Kratos and Godzilla in a fight would be epic, but what would be the best medium to display this battle?

Box Office – Munjya jumps huge again on Saturday, all set to cross 50 crores today(Photo Credit –Facebook)
As expected, there was very good jump in collections on Saturday for Munjya as the numbers pretty much doubled up over Friday [3.75 crores]. Anything over 5 crores would have been quite impressive as well and here they have gone all the way up to 6.75 crores, which is simply phenomenal. In fact, the collections are not far off from the last Saturday numbers of 7.40 crores.
What’s all the more remarkable is that the collections have zoomed up even with Chandu Champion as competition. That film hasn’t gone berserk but still saw a solid jump on Saturday. Still, if Munjya is collecting so much, it shows that audiences have really liked the film and are arriving in hordes to catch it even in its second week. The word of mouth is going in favor of...

The Circus, the Showtime docuseries that presented the chaotic world of politics in a weekly narrative, is ending its run after eight seasons and 130 episodes.
The show, with regular host correspondents are Mark McKinnon, John Heilemann and Jennifer Palmieri, will have its final episode on Sunday on Paramount+ with Showtime and Showtime linear.
Showtime decided not to renew the series amid changes at the premium network. One of the big champions of the show, David Nevins, departed last year.
The Circus is ending just on the cusp of the 2024 presidential cycle, in what might be a fight-to-the-finish rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, the latter of whom is likely to spend the better part of the year in court facing criminal charges.
The show’s hosts haven’t foreclosed the possibility of continuing on another platform, but they gave credit to Showtime for embracing the idea for The Circus and staying with it.

This is Day 112 of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
Striking actors in New York City hit the picket lines in extra layering Thursday with the weather turning colder and their union’s strike against studios and streamers extending into its fifth calendar month.
Amid reports of progress in the talks out west between SAG-AFTRA and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers, picketers spotted Thursday outside AMPTP member company offices in Manhattan included Annabella Sciorra, Terry Kinney, Kelly AuCoin, Glenn Fleshler, Stephen Kunken, Carrie Gibson, Michael Cyril Creighton, Frank C. Williams and Stephanie D’Abruzzo.
Actors said that they are doing their best to balance hopes for a settlement — which have been dashed before — with managed expectations while most continue to go without paying work.
“It’s a fine line,” Gibson, a SAG-AFTRA strike captain who had a recurring role on Max’s Barry, told Deadline at a picket outside NBCUniversal headquarters at Rockefeller Center.

Warning: contains spoilers for Wonder Woman #1!Wonder Woman is entering a bold new era and with it comes a despicable new rival: Sargent Steel. Once a staple of DC’s espionage comics, including The Suicide Squad, Steel has only made sporadic appearances in the past decade. Now, writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere have breathed new life into this classic character, who has quite a history at DC. Ironically enough, Sargent Steel was originally not a DC character.
When readers encounter Sargent Steel in Wonder Woman #1, he is helping the United States government enforce the Amazon Extradition Treaty (Axe) which stipulates that all Amazons living in the United States must leave. Steel is enforcing the act with lethal force, killing one Amazon. Furthermore, Sargent Steel is separating families, taking adopted children of Amazons away. Naturally, this incurs the wrath of Wonder Woman, who is now a fugitive from the law.

Orchis is the villainous organization at the center of the X-Men's most dire existential crisis in years. While structural oppression is a recurring theme in Marvel's mutant storytelling, Orchis is the most developed representation of a fascist operation influencing the wider world that the X-Men have ever faced. Their reach is far, and they have hooks planted in nearly every corner of Earth-616. So if readers are diving in blind to the Fall of X, or need a refresher since their introduction in House of X/Powers of X, here's what readers need to know to understand Orchis.
Alongside many other elements of the X-Men's groundbreaking Krakoan Era, Orchis debuted in House of X #1 by Jonathan Hickman, Pepe Larraz, Marte Gracia, Vc's Clayton Cowles, and Jordan D. White. Ego keeps a lot of people afloat.
It informs their decisions and, to some extent, makes them predictable to anyone who cares to pay a little attention.
It must have come up in our Billions reviews that Mike Prince -- like any other billionaire -- suffers from the all-too-common condition among people of his stature. He suffers from inflated self-importance.
We will discuss everything that went down on Billions Season 7 Episode 6, so if you're yet to get caught up on it, beware of spoilers.
Mike prepared to confront the ruling sentiments from the electorate where he was concerned. It was a standard procedure in candidacy, but that gave the saboteurs in his midst the opportunity to try and trim him down and, if lucky, get him to quit.
To brave the tumultuous waters of politics is not an easy feat. It requires a person whose self-awareness and pride are above that of an average person.

There are several possible party members available in Baldur's Gate 3, including Minsc who players may recognize from previous installments in the franchise. Minsc and his hamster, Boo, can be a valuable member of the team, but unfortunately recruiting him will require quite a bit of work.
To start off, players will not have the option of recruiting Minsc until reaching the third act of the game. However, that does not mean that there is nothing to be done prior as recruiting and keeping another character, Jaheira, a multi-class fighter/druid in Baldur's Gate 3, alive in Act Two is paramount to recruiting Minsc.
The High Harper Quest
Once reaching Act 3 in Baldur's Gate 3, Jaheira's High Harper quest will begin. The first step will be to visit Danthelon's Dancing Axe in Wyrm's Crossing, specifically the basement where the party will meet the Harpers. Danthelon, himself will be holding the key to the basement,...

Billions has always explored the one percent's relationship with the rest of the world in a way most people have never considered.
It has shown how having staggering amounts of money can render some people above the law because, in a predominantly capitalistic world, those with a lot of money have a millennium's worth of a head start over others.
But most of what we saw throughout the six seasons seemed a little out of the realm of possibility since the first time we were coming alive to the facts presented was through dramatization.
It all became too real when Mike Prince's plan was revealed in the Billions Season 6 finale. It felt eerily familiar that a billionaire who overestimated himself thought he was the solution to the common person's problem and would do anything to prove it. Anything.

Billions is officially coming to an end as Showtime has confirmed that the upcoming seventh season will be the final one for the drama series.
“Billions has deftly explored power, money and greed in a way that not only made it a massive hit, but also defined its own genre thanks to the creative brain trust of Brian [Koppelman] and David [Levien],” said Chris McCarthy, President & CEO, Showtime/MTV Entertainment Studios and Paramount Media Networks. “This final season is packed full of the incredible, complex dialogue and character dynamics fans have come to love, and we are thrilled to partner with them on turning this hit series into a global franchise.“

Showtime recently teased that the Billions universe will expand with a plethora of spinoffs, but the main series is coming to an end.
Dan Soder, who has been with the show since the beginning, revealed the surprising fate of the hit drama over the weekend during an appearance on NBC Sports Chicago's Football Night in Chicago.
"Season 7, the final season of Billions, is on its way," Soder said during the telecast, adding:
"Am I not supposed to say that? I don't know if I'm supposed to say that."
"It doesn't matter. You just said it," Mike Berman responded.
Soder replied, "It's the final season."
Showtime has yet to confirm the news, but Soder's announcement isn't that surprising.
It was recently reported that Damian Lewis would return for an arc on Billions Season 7, which could be to wrap up Axe's journey on-screen.
"Bobby's back," Lewis told Stephen Colbert last month.

The Axe is back.
Damian Lewis is returning to Showtime’s Billions for the finance drama’s upcoming seventh season.
The move marks a reversal for the actor, who exited his position as the show’s co-lead, playing hedge fund billionaire Bobby Axelrod, after season five. Lewis will appear in six of the new season’s 12 episodes.
Lewis’ departure was explained by his character going on the run from legal troubles. Co-star Corey Stoll was then upped to series regular and his character took over Axe’s company.
Lewis has previously suggested he left the series when his original five-season contract was up because he was a bit weary of the role. “It’s difficult to keep mining, creatively … We know who he is,” Lewis told The New York Times. “I always just assumed that [five] would be enough.” He also added that the passing of his wife in 2021, actress Helen McCrory,...

While he is known for playing charming nerd Wyatt Donnelly in the 1985 film Weird Science, Ilan Mitchell-Smith's career has taken a compelling turn. He began acting when he was a child, appearing as younger siblings or pre-teens who wish that they were cooler. After playing a young version of Timothy Hutton's character, Daniel Isaacson, in a flashback in the spy drama Daniel, he appeared in the 1984 TV movie How to Be a Perfect Person in Just Three Days as dorky Milo Crimpley, who takes a course on achieving flawlessness. Mitchell-Smith then played Eric Stoltz's Vietnam War-obsessed brother in The Wild Life, a teen comedy written by Cameron Crowe.
Wyatt is one of the most lovable characters in John Hughes's movies, and the story of him and his best friend Gary Wallace (Anthony Michael Hall) making a computer-generated woman named Lisa (Kelly LeBrock) is a classic coming-of-age tale.

Amazon’s upcoming adaptation of Neil Gaiman‘s (Good Omens) best-selling fantasy novel Anansi Boys has cast its lead female stars, Amarah-Jae St. Aubyn (Small Axe) and Grace Saif (13 Reasons Why). St. Aubyn, who made her screen debut as part of Steve McQueen‘s Small Axe series in the feature Lovers Rock, is set to play cheerful and kind teacher Rosie Noah. Rosie is the fiancée to Charles “Fat Charlie” Nancy, the show’s main protagonist, played by fellow Small Axe actor Malachi Kirby. “Small Axe” was a hit with TV and film critics when it premiered last fall on Amazon Prime Video. It won Best Picture from the Los Angeles Film Critics Association and was nominated for Best Limited Series at the Critics Choice and Golden Globe Awards. But how many Emmy nominations will it get? It’s up for consideration 18 times across the Emmy ballots. Scroll down to see the full list.
Seebafta TV Awards: ‘I May Destroy You,’ ‘Small Axe,’ ‘Normal People’ ….
Directed and co-written by Oscar-winner Steve McQueen (“12 Years a Slave”), “Small Axe” is an anthology consisting of five standalone films that explore the West Indian immigrant experience in the UK from the 1960s to the 1980s. “Mangrove” tells the true story of a group of Black protestors who were persecuted by the police and the legal system. “Lovers Rock” is a fictional story set during a lively house party.

Galeca: The Society of LGBTQ Entertainment Critics, comprised of over 300 entertainment journalists in the U.S. and abroad, has announced its 2021 Dorian TV Award nominations.
“I’m so proud,” said the Society’s newly elected president, Monika Estrella Negra. “Our group’s nominations are diverse and fresh, signaling the overhaul of invisibility of marginalized communities and the heralding of a new generation of entertainment journalists.”
The final season of Pose, FX’s found-family drama, leads with six nominations, including Best TV Drama. Disney+’s TV-spoofing Marvel fantasy WandaVision is close behind with five nominations. And with four nominations each are HBO’s grim Kate Winslet-led murder mystery Mare of Easttown and vividly frank I May Destroy You, as well as the heartrending drama It’s a Sin from HBO Max.
Spurred by passionate pleas from non-binary activists, as well as non-binary journalists and others in Galeca’s own ranks,...

It is often hard enough to conjure the right mood for one installment of an anthology series, but what if your task is five times that? Music supervisor Ed Bailie was tasked by Academy Award-nominated director Steve McQueen to do just that for “Small Axe,” a quintet of period-specific films about Black life in England ranging from the 1960s to the 1980s, touching on social topics from police brutality to the failings of the education system to a raging house party’s effect on young lives. “We used about 80 or 90 songs in the course of ‘Small Axe,'” says Bailie, “and each film had different music illustrated in the scripts, so every part carved their own identities throughout”.
For “Mangrove,” the lengthiest and arguably most-charged entry that opens “Axe,” Bailie took his cue from the Trinidadian-settled Notting Hill of the late 1960s — far removed from the gentrified neighborhood seen years...

Editor’s Note: This project is presented by Amazon Prime Video, and the above video is produced by IndieWire’s Creative Producer Leonardo Adrian Garcia.
Steve McQueen has launched movies at Cannes, Venice, and Telluride. He’s received rapturous reviews calling him “masterful” and declaring his work Oscar-bound. But no premiere compared to his anthology series, “Small Axe,” when it hit the BBC and Amazon Prime Video late last year.
“It’s been tremendous. In fact, it’s quite overwhelming and quite emotional, really,” McQueen said. “I never had a debut like this ever.”
As part of their rollout, the director and co-writer of all five films said he was very fortunate, at a time when many festivals were being canceled, to see “Mangrove,” “Lovers Rock,” and “Red, White, and Blue” premiere at the New York Film Festival.
“I was very happy that our film could give that much joy to people,...

BBC will be adapting Kate Atkinson's bestselling novel Life After Life into a four-part series that's set for release on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The book was previously shortlisted for a Women's Prize For Fiction and won a Costa Book Award in 2013, so we know it's going to be good. Starring Fleabag's Sian Clifford, Derry Girls's Maria Laird, and Small Axe star Joshua Hill, the story follows a main character called Ursula, who dies before she's able to take her first breath.
Set in 1910, the series follows Ursula as she's born and reborn again and again, across a period that spans not one but two world wars. She finds herself face to face with Adolf Hitler himself, and the series explores her journey as she tries to navigate a new life each time. Clifford is set to play Sylvie - Ursula's mother - and stars alongside James McArdle,...

“Small Axe” made a large impact when it premiered last fall, uniting film and television critics in their praise of the Steve McQueen anthology series about the history of oppression against West Indian immigrants in the UK. The Los Angeles Film Critics Association even awarded it Best Picture. But it competes as a TV limited series at the Golden Globes, and now it’s the front-runner to win Best TV Supporting Actor for John Boyega.
Before nominations were announced, Boyega ranked fourth in our predictions with 6/1 odds based on the combined forecasts of Gold Derby users, with none of our Experts predicting him to win. Many of our users and top journos might have been hedging their bets about his candidacy since he’d never been nominated for a Globe before and the TV supporting categories at these awards are prohibitively crowded, combining comedies, dramas, movies and limited series with only five nomination slots available.
