After years of teasing cameos, Marvel’s the Man without Fear is finally back in Daredevil: Born Again, and the Disney+ show’s timing is fearlessly fantastic.
As Donald Trump prepares to address Congress tonight amidst tariffs, a stock market slump and dangerous intranational realignments and anxiety, it is a reminder it has become impossible the past month not to see almost everything through the distorted lens of a convicted felon president’s latest reign of terror and error.
With terms like “resist” and “retribution” employed in the long-awaited and creatively retooled Charlie Cox-led Born Again, the first Daredevil series since 2018 lines up to the real America of 2025 on a number of levels. Certainly, with the City Hall-aspiring Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) promising five boroughs voters to “keep our streets safe” to grab absolute power to abuse for riches, there is a lot of Maga here, as well as a lot of creativity and history.

Did Mikey Madison win an Oscar for portraying a prostitute in Anora? (Photo Credit – AnoraFilm Instagram)
The 2025 Academy Awards came and went in a whirlwind, forging legacies for a slew of talents, though it’s the newcomers who galvanize the most intrigue with their ties to the golden statuette. Amid the night’s fervor, one victory stood out — a triumph that spotlights both a fresh face and a storied trope.
Mikey Madison, the 25-year-old dynamo from Anora, seized her first Oscar for Best Actress, outpacing The Substance’s Demi Moore in a twist few had prognosticated. The win, flanked by Anora’s haul of Best Picture, Director, and more, incentivized a floodlight on her nascent Hollywood path.
Maddison’s raw and unapologetic portrayal of the titular sex worker elucidated a character far from cliché, cementing her ascent with a cataclysmic bang. That win didn’t transpire without etching new stats...

For the second consecutive year, the Best Picture Oscar has been all in the family.
Husband and wife Sean Baker and Samantha Quan have earned statuettes for producing the comedy-drama “Anora,” one year after spouses Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas won the same award for “Oppenheimer.”
Baker and Quan, who shared the award with producer Alex Coco, are the fourth — or fifth, technically; see the “Lord of the Rings” team below — romantic partners to score the Oscar’s most coveted prize.
Julia Phillips was the first female producer to ever win Best Picture, 51 years ago, for the 1973 mystery drama “The Sting,” which she produced alongside Tony Bill and her then-husband Michael Phillips. They divorced the same year as their Oscar win, but continued to work together, producing “Taxi Driver” and “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.”

He did it all for Jodie Foster.
When 25-year-old John Hinckley Jr. fired six shots at Ronald Reagan on March 30, 1981, the newly-elected president wasn’t the shooter’s main target. A few years earlier, when Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver was released, Hinckley became obsessed with Jodie Foster (who was just 12 when she played the Oscar-nominated part of an underage sex worker).
After failing to get Foster’s attention in other ways — like stalking her — Hinckley developed a plan to assassinate Reagan to impress her. He put the plan into action two months after Reagan’s first inauguration, just after the president was finishing up a speech at the Washington Hilton Hotel. As Reagan exited the building and headed toward his presidential limousine, six shots rang out in close succession.
The first bullet hit Press Secretary Jim Brady in the head. The second hit D.C. police officer Tom Delahanty in the back of the neck.

James Marsden is looking to make his biopic debut — and has his sights set on Mickey Blue Eyes.
“Paradise” actor Marsden told The Post that he aspires to portray Frank Sinatra onscreen in a feature similar to Oscar-winning 2004 Ray Charles biopic “Ray.”
“To do a biopic like what Jamie Foxx did with Ray Charles would be a lot of fun,” Marsden said. “I would love to. And you’re actually using your singing voice, as well.”
Marsden previously sang in 2007 films “Enchanted” and “Hairspray,” the latter of which Marsden deemed to be like a “Broadway show” to film. He added that “Hairspray” was a “joyous” production akin to attending a “party.” Perhaps a Sinatra biopic could be the same.
“I’ve always loved emulating some of the old crooners, like Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin,” Marsden said of potentially playing Sinatra. “I always thought there were so...

Winning an Oscar is supposed to be the pinnacle, right? The ultimate stamp of approval, the golden ticket to prestige projects and paychecks. But how could it ever be that simple? There’s a long history of actors who, after basking in the glow of their Academy Award moment, have suddenly found themselves struggling to land roles, battling weird industry backlash, or – if they happen to be a woman – being deemed “too difficult” overnight.
Some just call it the Oscar curse, because Hollywood loves to anoint a star, but it also loves to tear one down. Having said that, there’s a rare breed of actors who not only win an Oscar but do it again. And again. So who are these titans of the Academy, the actors who didn’t just win but kept winning?

Tatum O’Neal is reflecting on the role that could have been.
The iconic actress, who made history at age 10 by winning the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 1974’s “Paper Moon,” told Variety that her father — fellow actor and “Paper Moon” co-star Ryan O’Neal — forbid her from auditioning for “Taxi Driver.” Tatum was asked to audition for the Martin Scorsese feature after her Academy Award win; the film was released in 1976 with a 13-year-old Jodie Foster instead in the Oscar-nominated role of a child prostitute.
“My father said, ‘No, you can’t,'” Tatum said of Ryan restricting her budding career as a child star. She added that Ryan thought the part was “a little too naked.” Tatum continued, “And I never really recovered from that.”
After Tatum became the youngest person to ever win an Academy Award (a record she still holds to this day), she explained that her father...

There's nothing movie audiences love more than poking around in a character's brain, especially when said character is, well, not particularly well-adjusted. Since the birth of film, movies have been unpacking what makes people tick, using the psychological thriller genre -- which often verges on horror -- to delve into the inner workings of fascinating yet unsettling characters. Whether it's a serial killer, an abusive husband, or an obsessive housekeeper, these cinematic figures give our protagonists plenty to be dealing with as they unleash chaos on all who surround them.
Dark, twisted, and often disturbing, the psychological thriller keeps audiences on the edge of their seats and constantly wrongfooted, as they attempt to parse the complexity of what they're seeing. This type of movie isn't the best choice to have playing on in the background while you're absentmindedly folding laundry or making dinner, but for the viewer who's willing to give it their full attention,...

Netflix’s latest political thriller, Zero Day, is one of the most star-studded small-screen ventures released this year, chock-full of A-list actors. Setting aside the narrative, which is intriguing enough to keep the viewers hooked anyway, the sheer star power is bound to make you binge the whole series in one go irrespective of whether you like political thrillers or not. Zero Day focuses on the aftermath of a cyberterrorism incident, which leads to the creation of a special commission with the power to negate people’s right to freedom. Abuse of such power to suppress opposing voices raises concerns about the rise of fascistic tendencies, a fear that manifests itself when the truth is finally revealed about the attack being orchestrated by the very elected officials entrusted to serve the people themselves. Needless to say, a gripping narrative such as this needs backing up with strong acting, and the...

The Academy Awards are the most prestigious ceremony in Hollywood and are tasked with recognizing the greatest achievements in cinema within a given year. While the ceremony allows the cast and crew of films to be recognized by a community of their peers, it also serves as a great opportunity to showcase the art of filmmaking to a larger audience. While the Oscars don’t always recognize the single greatest film each year, they generally make good decisions by honoring projects that are worthy of accolades.
Unfortunately, the Best Picture lineup each year tends to have at least one film that is clearly not of the same quality level as its fellow competitors. This issue has grown even more prevalent due to a change that occurred at the 2010 Academy Awards ceremony, in which the lineup was extended to ten nominees. It’s disappointing that the Oscars would choose to dedicate...

To say Berlin is a big city by European standards is an understatement — it has the largest population in Germany with 3.8 million residents and spans 23 miles.
Thus, you should never tackle Berlin without a plan, especially due to its unpredictable weather, which ranges from sunny and cold to overcast and cold to rainy and chilly in February.
THR presents six spots we love that provide a new layer of knowledge about the city’s troubled history, incredible art renaissance and natural beauty.

When “Magazine Dreams” premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, it seemed positioned to become one of the year’s breakout hits. Jonathan Majors was gearing up for a career-best year, with roles in “Creed 3” and “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” to come, while Elijah Bynum’s bodybuilding drama gave the actor the kind of showcase that many believed could lead to Oscar glory. A Sundance bidding war broke out, with Searchlight acquiring the theatrical rights and planning a late 2023 release.
But those plans collapsed when Majors was arrested on charges of assault and harassment in March 2023 and found guilty in December 2023. Searchlight pulled the film from its release calendar and Majors was dropped from many of his future projects, including his role as Kang in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that was expected to continue through the next two “Avengers” movies.

Premiering two years ago at the Sundance Film Festival, Elijah Bynum’s Magazine Dreams was to be the start of a major year for Jonathan Majors, delivering a ferocious performance in the Taxi Driver-esque drama set in the world of bodybuilding. Picked up by Searchlight Pictures for a pretty penny, it was then shelved after assault charges against Majors. Eventually dropped by the distributor it was recently picked up by Briarcliff Entertainment who will give it a March 21 theatrical release. Ahead of the release, they’ve now debuted the first trailer.
Here’s the synopsis: “Killian Maddox is consumed by his dream of becoming a world famous bodybuilder and one day gracing the cover of fitness magazines. He lives a lonely, regimented life, and his relentless drive for perfection only pushes him deeper towards self-destruction, but beneath his tenacious pursuit of superstardom lies a desperate, aching need for human connection.

The responses to "Joker: Folie à Deux" were chaotic at best and scathing at worst. Starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as Gotham's Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn, respectively, the follow-up to DC's 2019 hit "Joker" boasts a 31% score on Rotten Tomatoes, indicating that most critics aren't fans of the flick. Even acclaimed filmmakers like Paul Schrader were vocal about their hatred of "Joker 2," with the "Taxi Driver" screenwriter blasting the leads' performances and admitting to walking out of the movie.

"People just sometimes don't like some things. It's that simple. And I think to be an artist, you have to be willing for people to sometimes not like it.

The ever-growing capabilities of AI remain to be a hot-button topic in the arts as the technology has been used to alter images, sound, music and even create completely new footage. Coca-Cola would recently come under fire for producing a holiday commercial using AI generations. Other projects like the posters for Civil War and the opening credits of Marvel’s Secret Invasion have received criticism for employing the technology at the expense of possible artists in the industry who could have also created the pieces of work.

Exclusive: The Center for Asian American Media announced at Sundance the inaugural cohort of 15 Building Bridges documentarians, whose films will receive support as part of the Building Bridges Documentary Fund.
The fund is made possible with a $4.5 million grant from the Doris Duke Foundation.
The initiative invests in storytelling about Muslims in the United States with the aim of fostering greater representation and understanding of U.S. Muslim communities by growing the canon of high-caliber documentaries that center them, Caam says.
The 15 projects funded in the inaugural cohort of Caam’s Building Bridges Documentary Fund span diverse themes, including explorations of intergenerational relationships, music, love, and social justice.
“With genres ranging from docu-horror to experiential to investigative films, these works highlight the vibrancy and complexity of U.S. Muslim stories and contribute to a media landscape that leads with Muslim protagonists, , and their points-of-view,” says Leila Abu-saada, Caam’s Building Bridges Documentary Fund Manager.

If you don’t know a great deal about bunnies apart from their cuteness, a piece of rabbit-centric trivia you will learn in writer-director Katarina Zhu’s debut feature “Bunnylovr” might just break your heart. Turns out, when bunnies experience a considerable amount of stress or a sudden burst of fear, they might go into a state of shock: Their soft bodies become limp, their floppy ears get cold, and if untreated, they can even die from it.
Rest assured, there are no gruesome bunny deaths to worry about in Zhu’s intimate yet slight portrait of New York-based Chinese American cam-girl Rebecca, delicately portrayed by Zhu herself. But existential dreads and visceral gusts of panic are quietly (and symbolically) everywhere in the film, as Rebecca drifts through her dead-end day job as a personal assistant, and her alternate persona by night as an online sex worker. As such, one would think that her bagging such massive accomplishments at such a young age would help her achieve a strong agency in her still-progressing career early on. The truth, however, is quite the opposite.
Lawrence spoke at length about her struggles post-Oscar win and becoming world renowned for her role in The Hunger Games in an interview once. According to her, instead of making her more comfortable and confident her achievements made her feel a loss of control. Thankfully she has overcome those struggles in the following years,...

Many in Hollywood have been critical of AI-created work, but “Raging Bull” and “Taxi Driver” screenwriter Paul Schrader is not on that list. The screenwriter and director took to Facebook to praise the technology, specifically ChatGPT.
“I’M Stunned,” Schrader wrote last Friday. During his post, he noted he asked ChatGPT for “an idea for Paul Schrader film.” He then repeated the request for Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, Harmony Korine, Ingmar Bergman, Roberto Rossellini, Fritz Lang, Martin Scorsese, F.W. Murnau, Frank Capra, John Ford, Steven Spielberg and David Lynch.
“Every idea chatgpt came up with (in a few seconds) was good. And original. And fleshed out,” Schrader wrote. “Why should writers sit around for months searching for a good idea when AI can provide one in seconds?”

Critically acclaimed writer and director Paul Schrader has defended the use of artificial intelligence when writing screenplays for movies. Schrader is best known for writing classic movies such as Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The Last Temptation of Christ. In recent years, Schrader has directed several movies. Some of Paul Schrader's best movies include First Reformed, which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Screenplay, The Card Counter, and Master Gardener. Schrader's recent comments are surprising since many writers have criticized the use of AI for writing screenplays.
In a Facebook post, Schrader claims that AI is capable of coming up with great ideas. He explains that he asked ChatGPT to come up with ideas for films from several different filmmakers, including himself, Paul Thomas Anderson, Quentin Tarantino, and Martin Scorsese. Paul Schrader is sounding off in support of using ChatGPT to come up with ideas for films. In a recent Facebook post, the “Taxi Driver” writer and “First Reformed” director said he asked the AI platform to generate plots for movies by famous filmmakers, including himself, and was impressed by the results.
“I’M Stunned,” Schrader wrote. “I just asked chatgpt for ‘an idea for Paul Schrader film.’ Then Paul Thomas Anderson. Then Quentin Tarantino. Then Harmony Korine. Then Ingmar Bergman. In stark contrast to a number of Hollywood creatives, Oscar-nominated writer/director Paul Schrader posits ChatGPT can write “original” and “fleshed out” screenplays.
The Oh, Canada screenwriter posted on Facebook that he asked the generative artificial intelligence-powered chatbot to come up with an idea for a film for a variety of renowned filmmakers, including himself, and that the results were more than satisfactory.

Schrader concluded, “Every idea chatgpt came up with (in a few seconds) was good. And original. And fleshed out. Why should writers sit around for months searching for a good idea when AI can provide one in seconds?”

The Sting, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford, made groundbreaking history with one of its Academy Award wins. Considered one of the best heist movies of all time, The Sting sees Henry Gondorff (Newman) and Johnny Hooker (Redford) teaming up to con the crime boss Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw). The 1973 film is among Robert Redford and Paul Newman's best movies, with its heist being among one of the most iconic in cinematic history.
The Sting's critical and commercial success led to ten nominations and seven wins at the 46th Academy Awards in 1974. It won for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Art Direction, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing, and Best Scoring. Redford also received a Best Actor nomination, with Jack Lemmon going on to win the honor for Save the Tiger. However, only one of The Sting's Academy Award wins would change the future of movie awards.

Nathan Shepka’s been a busy man, over the past couple of years and working in various combinations of actor/writer/director/producer, has given us a trio of solid, if rather low budget films, the crime thriller Holiday Monday, its sequel Lock & Load and the mystery When Darkness Falls. His first foray into horror, a nunsploitation film The Baby in the Basket, will drop in February.
Today, however, the film up for review is Dead Before They Wake, a crime film that gets considerably dirtier and grimmer than his previous efforts. It opens as Alex (Nathan Shepka) has to break up an attempted rape behind the Glasgow nightclub where he works as a bouncer.

Uzak Movie Review: Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s Poetic Study of Loneliness and Nihilism in the Modern Society
“Loneliness has followed me my whole life, everywhere. In bars, in cars, on sidewalks, in stores—everywhere. There’s no escape. I’m God’s lonely man.” These are the words of Travis Bickle from Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver.” They also resonate deeply with the two central characters in Nuri Bilge Ceylan’s “Uzak”. While Travis, an insomniac loner who struggles with relationships and human interactions, turns to violence as a last resort to assert his existence, the characters in “Uzak” are so consumed by their loneliness that they refuse even to acknowledge it. As a result, they become apathetic, resentful, and even nihilistic, placing disproportionate value on fleeting pleasures like smoking, watching pornography, or aimlessly wandering, rather than attempting to form meaningful human connections.
“Uzak” tells the story of two pivotal characters: Yusuf, an illiterate and shy villager who moves to Istanbul to find work in a dockyard, and Mahmut,...

I’ve always avoided New Year’s resolutions, but this week I happened to recall one that was brief but resolute: I resolved to quit Hollywood.
And I did. Almost.
That decision seems relevant today for reasons that require a bit of history. Consider January 1975, 50 years ago: It was a Hollywood moment that was the opposite of the present, both in numbers and nuance. It was a great time to be around – and not to be.
The audience was expanding and was determined to get scared: Jaws was a smash. But millions also were welcoming the weirdities of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. TV fans were puzzled over something new called SNL, and music fans continued to discover Elton John (still are).
As box office kept growing, opportunity was abundant. Words like “downsizing” or “contracting” were still unknown.

Jonathan Majors will be back on the big screen this spring. Briarcliff Entertainment will release “Magazine Dreams,” the drama starring Jonathan Majors that premiered at Sundance 2023, in theaters on March 21, 2025, according to a Deadline report.
Briarcliff picked up the rights to “Magazine Dreams” back in October after it was dropped by Searchlight Pictures. At the time the new distributor announced its intentions to release the film theatrically in 2025. “Magazine Dreams” will now open alongside Disney’s “Snow White,” Robert De Niro crime drama “Alto Knights,” and the horror/sci-fi film “Ash.”

Was Leonardo DiCaprio’s story all about humble beginnings? ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
This advice shaped Leonardo DiCaprio’s wild ride to stardom. He didn’t grow up with private schools and limo rides — Leo’s childhood was more Taxi Driver gritty than Hollywood Boulevard glamorous. We’re talking about a kid who witnessed crack deals in alleys and saw a prostitution ring on his street corner. Yeah, that was his reality. Yet, Leo went from that chaos to becoming The Wolf of Wall Street and one of Hollywood’s biggest names.
Leo’s secret sauce? Supportive parents who kept him grounded. After George DiCaprio and Irmelin Indenbirken split up early on, they made a pact to steer Leo clear of the traps that come with growing up in a tough neighborhood. In a 2016 speech, Leo gave a shoutout to his parents: “To my parents, thank you for listening to an overly ambitious,...

Should you ever need to give your watchlist some extra oomph, you can't go wrong by referring to IMDb's Top 250 list, which includes some of the best movies that cinema has ever had to offer. The great thing about such a mammoth pile of films is that icons of Hollywood will be popping in more than one entry on the list. Of course, some stars have a greater presence on this compendium than others, and while it might not shock many as to who has the most entries, it's surprising to see who the runner-ups are.
Coming in at the number one spot with the most films in IMDb's Top 250 is the man many believe to be perhaps the best actor ever -- Robert De Niro. Having appeared in over 100 films, nine of De Niro's projects rank among the website's most beloved 250: "The Godfather Part II," "Goodfellas,...

These legends of laughter continued to light up the entertainment world, each carving out a legacy that rivals their time on the show.MEGAPeter Boyle Mega
Before Everybody Loves Raymond, Peter Boyle appeared in Joe (1970), The Candidate (1972), Young Frankenstein (1974) and Taxi Driver (1976), as well as on and off-Broadway. Fans adored him in the role of Ray and Robbie's deadpan, slightly cranky dad, Frank.
However, off-screen, he was nothing like his coarse character. Instead, he was a friendly, warmhearted guy.
"He made me feel welcome," said Ray Romano. "He made me feel part of the club."
Shortly after the sitcom wrapped, Boyle died of multiple myeloma and heart disease in 2006 at age 71.
