Amy Lewis was gone from The Young and the Restless for decades. She returned on October 29 to drop a bombshell on Nate —he has an older half-brother she never told his dad about. On the October 30 episode, Nate and Devon wondered about the mysterious Damian. We’re wondering, too. And here’s what we think Genoa City could be in for.
What’s in a Name?
We’ve got our first clue right there in the new guy’s name: Damian. Sure, there was a priest with that moniker who was an absolute saint, working with the lepers on the island of Molokai. Damien is the name of a saint.

Quick ViewWhere Can You Find Mohg, the Omen? How to Prepare to Fight Mohg, The Omen? How to Beat Mohg, the Omen?
This is a quick guide on how to beat Mohg, the Omen during the Leyndell encounter in Elden Ring. FromSoftware used the same old attacks and moves of the other Mohg variant for this fight. Players who defeat it should find it easier and know the best ways to counter and survive.
Seasoned Soulslike players interested in the main story will not have to worry about facing this optional boss; however, Mohg, the Omen is a prerequisite to unlock a specific ending, and some might find an excuse to fight this enemy regardless.
Where Can You Find Mohg, the Omen? Elden Ring players should have great navigation skills entering the Subterranean-Shunning Grounds.
The Tarnished can find Mohg, the Omen underneath Leyndell, the Royal Capital around the Subterranean-Shunning Grounds.

Join ussss this week as we delve into one of the year’s most discussed, dissected, and downright creepy horror movies! Kimmi & Jon are pulling out the pentagrams and turning our crosses upside down on this week’s episode of Nightmare on Film Street horror movie podcast as they break down all the brain-shattering revelations of Arkasha Stevenson’s The First Omen (2024).
Expanding the foundation of a movie that haunted moviegoers in 1976, The First Omen peels back the layers of Richard Donner’s The Omen to explore a sinister satanic cult embedded deep within the Roman Catholic Church. Striking a balance between franchise expectations and fresh nightmare imagery, The First Omen is a haunting story of religious horror and proof that prequels can be just as bone-chilling as their predecessors. Tune in as we explore the dark origins of evil, uncover shocking secrets, and get into the nitty gritty of...

Damien Thorn is the Antichrist, and the trilogy that tells his unholy tale remains popular almost fifty years later. Indeed, while putting together this movie ranked list and revisiting the original Omen franchise, we were surprised at how well the old movies held up. Omen fans will be happy that the series has been restarted in a pretty interesting way earlier this year, with The First Omen a surprisingly excellent prequel to the original trilogy (check out our interviews with the director and cast here), even if it takes one large liberty involving Damien’s birth that some fans may have an issue with. So, how do the Omen films rank against each other? Let’s take a look, but remember that the TV series Damien (which lasted for one season in 2016) is not included, as we’re sticking with feature films.
The Omen (2006)
There’s honestly no reason for this movie to exist.

Few horror movies are as fantastic or as retroactively controversial as "Rosemary's Baby." Decades after its release, what are we to make of a movie about a woman's bodily agency that was made by a man –- Roman Polanski –- who was later convicted of statutory rape? It's just one of several tricky questions that's elicited by any thorough look back at the film; in addition to Polanski's life story, both of the movie's surviving cast members (see below) have been embroiled in their own complex and traumatic situations in the years since the film debuted in 1968.
It's a tricky legacy for a phenomenal movie that works on the strengths of all involved, including a powerful young Mia Farrow, who turns Polanski's already-sharp take on Ira Levin's great book into something unforgettable. Most of the other actors who made the film a classic are gone now, including John Cassavettes...

10 2024 Films that Will Get You Into the Halloween Spooky Season - Main Image
Though horror films are released all year round, the Halloween season in October is really the time to celebrate all things dark and creepy.
Several movies have been come to known as Halloween classics with films like The Thing, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Poltergeist, but 2024 has also brought in some interesting movies that should get you into the spooky season (in no particular order).

Halloween isn’t always about things being scary. Sometimes things can just be gross and silly, and the Beetlejuice sequel from Tim Burton delivers a great return to his kooky depiction of the afterlife.
Wednesday star Jenna Ortega takes over the role of the dark gothic girl that was played by Winona Ryder in the original, and the movie also gives some interesting backstory to Beetlejuice as a character and why...

Natalie Erika James’ “Apartment 7A” crumbles under circumstantial pressures. Visual blemishes don’t mar the “Rosemary’s Baby” prequel — James can shoot with effusive competence (see “Relic”). This film sleepwalks as a routine horror prequel clinging to classic nostalgia, unlike how “The First Omen” nailed the formula mere months ago. “Apartment 7A” achieves basic prequel accomplishments without finding its independent voice, playing with Roman Polanski’s characters and plotlines like a dull recreation. There’s nothing here we couldn’t already presume from watching “Rosemary’s Baby,” as James finds herself handcuffed to an original in a needless attempt to revive an existing intellectual property.
As seen in its Friday premiere at Fantastic Fest, Julia Garner stars as Terry Gionoffrio, who you’ll remember as a dead body in Polanski’s devilish maternity tale. Earlier this year, "The First Omen" arrived in theaters, offering us a prequel to the 1976 Satanic horror pic "The Omen." In theory, this sounded like a bad idea: a lazy way to cash-in on brand awareness without offering anything new to the horror genre. But surprise, surprise! "The First Omen" turned out to be surprisingly good, especially for a studio mandated horror prequel. It may not have set the box office on fire, but in the sturdy hands of filmmaker Arkasha Stevenson, "The First Omen" was smart, captivating, and most of all, scary. Now, here comes "Apartment 7A," which is following a similar formula: It's another prequel to a devil-themed horror classic, in this case Roman Polanski's "Rosemary's Baby." My knee-jerk reaction was to be skeptical to this entire endeavour, but I was also skeptical about "The First Omen," and that turned out to be a wonderful surprise. Could it happen again?...

Kurt Russell was everywhere in the '80s, but there was one 1985 film he can't be spotted in despite having originally signed on for it. It's "Ladyhawke," the largely forgotten fantasy epic starring a pre-"Ferris Bueller" Matthew Broderick alongside Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutger Hauer. Directed by "The Omen" and "The Goonies" filmmaker Richard Donner, "Ladyhawke" received a lukewarm welcome at the box office and critical reviews to match.
So, how did Russell end up dodging this bullet? Well, apparently, by sticking to his no-tights rule. The actor once spoke about exiting the film in an interview with Whitney Scott Bain for Starburst Magazine, and confessed that a few factors led to his decision not to see the project through. "When I got there, I see wardrobe and the character has to wear tights," Russell explained, adding plainly: "I don't wear tights. That's not for me." Coming from anyone else,...

Lee Daniels’ background in independent film – Monster’s Ball, Precious – once had him wondering what it would be like to work for a studio, a curiosity that was finally satisfied when he made Empire for Fox.
Or maybe satisfied is the wrong word.
“Horrible. Absolutely the worst experience. Horrible!” the director-producer says in a new interview with The Film Stage. “But guess what? F*cking that money, money, money! I was able to put my kids through college and shit. So that in itself was worth it.”
Daniels, whose new Netflix horror movie The Deliverance stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Aunjanue Ellis and Mo’Nique, said in the interview, “I don’t like staying in the same lane just as a creative. When I got into television, I really just wanted to be able to answer to suits. I wanted to know what that experience was like.”

The horror classic Rosemary’s Baby tells a crackerjack story about a woman who gives birth to the Antichrist. Its mix of subtlety and surrealism makes it one of the rare 1960s horror films that are still frightening today. The movie was so effective that it spread many unbiblical beliefs about the Antichrist. Here’s a look at how the apocalypse is portrayed in the Bible compared to Rosemary’s Baby.
‘Rosemary’s Baby’ has a much more literal Antichrist than the Bible does
In Rosemary’s Baby, the Antichrist is portrayed as the literal son of the devil, an inversion of the Christian belief that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. While Jesus was the product of a virgin birth, Rosemary’s child is conceived when Satan himself rapes her.
This is all terrifying, but it’s not firmly rooted in any religious tradition. Two apocalyptic texts from the Bible discuss the...

Rosemary’s Baby is an enduring horror classic that helped define two scary movie subgenres: the creepy child flick and the Satanic movie. Fascinatingly, the book that inspired the film was almost about aliens. Here’s why the book took a devilish turn instead.
The book ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ was supposed to be ‘9 whole months of anticipation’
Ira Levin was a novelist who wrote popular books like A Kiss Before Dying, The Stepford Wives, and The Boys from Brazil. Perhaps his most famous book was Rosemary’s Baby, which informed many people’s attitudes toward the devil and the Antichrist. In a 2003 article reposted by The Criterion Collection, Levin explained why he chose to write a horror novel about pregnancy.
“Having observed that the most suspenseful part of a horror story is before, not after, the horror appears, I was struck one day by the thought (while not listening to a lecture) that...

Lee Daniels‘ first foray into horror filmmaking, “The Deliverance,” just dropped on Netflix, but it’s a subject — and a genre — that has been on the director’s mind since he made “Precious” 15 years ago. That’s when he first heard the true account of a family besieged by evil spirits on which “The Deliverance” is based. “I was very intrigued by this story,” Daniels told IndieWire’s Filmmaker Toolkit podcast, “and I was intrigued by the idea of doing horror because I’m obsessed with ‘The Exorcist.’ I’m obsessed with ‘Rosemary’s Baby.’ I’m obsessed with ‘The Omen.'”
That obsession has yielded one of Daniels’ most audacious films yet, which is saying something when you’re talking about the filmmaker behind such singular works as “The Paperboy,” “The United States vs. Billie Holiday,” and the television series “Empire.” What makes “The Deliverance” great is the way that...

Few horror movies from the 1960s have the power to terrify modern audiences quite like Rosemary’s Baby, so it’s no surprise that the film inspired a prequel called Apartment 7A. While many fans are only familiar with the original movie, there are a few other entries in the Rosemary’s Baby franchise. Here’s a look at them from start to finish.
‘Apartment 7A’ and ‘Rosemary’s Baby’ are part of a long Satanic tradition in pop culture
It was the late 1960s, and Satan was in the air. During that time, The Rolling Stones released “Sympathy for the Devil,” The Beatles plopped Aleister Crowley’s haunting visage on the cover of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, and a devilish showman who went by Anton Lavey started the Church of Satan. Part of this trend was Ira Levin’s novel Rosemary’s Baby, which was the first popular depiction of...

As Pigeon Shrine FrightFest 2024 brings the horror community together once more, one film that promises to deliver both nostalgia and gore is Mutilator 2. Directed by Buddy Cooper, this long-awaited sequel to the 1984 cult classic The Mutilator arrives nearly four decades after the original shocked and thrilled audiences with its grisly kills and unapologetic approach to the slasher genre. The original film, also known as Fall Break, became a cult favorite among horror enthusiasts for its inventive deaths and the terrifying figure of Big Ed, a grief-crazed maniac with a penchant for nautical-themed weapons. Now, with Mutilator 2, the legacy continues as the story picks up in a modern setting, blending horror and humor while bringing back both original and new characters for another bloody round.

Netflix’s possession horror movie The Deliverance is loosely based on the 2011 account of Latoya Ammons and her family’s haunting, otherwise known as the Demon House. Director Lee Daniels didn’t want to take any chances when it came to broaching the horror tied to Ammons’ account and enlisted an apostle to anoint the set with prayer.
The Deliverance, out now in select theaters before arriving on Netflix August 30, stars Andra Day, Glenn Close, Mo’Nique, Aunjanue Ellis, Caleb McLaughlin and Tasha Smith.
Day plays Ebony Jackson, “a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start. But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children.”

When Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in 2019 in one of the biggest media takeovers of all time, the House of Mouse absorbed its film slate — and promptly had to slog through an endless series of commercial duds.
Movies like “X-Men” spinoffs “Dark Phoenix” and “New Mutants,” Brad Pitt’s astronaut drama “Ad Astra,” buddy comedy “Stuber,” Harrison Ford-led canine adventure “The Call of the Wild” and animated pigeon comedy “Spies in Disguise” were rejected by audiences and sputtered at the box office. Worse, they didn’t exactly instill confidence in the film assets that resulted from the $71.3 billion mega-merger.

The year that brought us the classic Alien also gave us dozens of other horror movies – some great, others less so. We head back to 1979:
“The horror… the horror,” a shadowy Marlon Brando intoned in Francis Ford Coppola’s Apocalypse Now, finally released in 1979 after an infamously protracted shoot. Brando’s Colonel Kurtz was referring to the haunting fallout from the Vietnam war in those final, whispered words, but he could just as well have been reading off a newspaper listing of the numerous genre movies released that year.
Among 1979’s biggest hits was, of course, Alien, Ridley Scott’s prowling space horror that elevated its monster-on-a-ship premise into something unforgettably visceral and disturbing. So disturbing that it launched a franchise that is still going 45 years later; as these words are being typed, Fede Alvarez’s sidequel Alien: Romulus is about to hatch in cinemas.

Ilana Glazer and Michelle Buteau fizz in the Better Things creator’s directorial debut, a rapid-fire riff on pregnancy, motherhood and female friendship
Motherhood changes everything. Or that’s the received wisdom anyway. However, Eden – Ilana Glazer, who also co-wrote the film and rattles out her lines with a flip, crackling energy that veers between the scatological and the screwball – didn’t get that particular memo. A freewheeling, terminally single yoga teacher from Astoria, Queens, she is not about to let an unplanned baby derail her life. Her personality is stamped on to every aspect of her pregnancy. Her birth plan features helium balloons and tiaras; she has already compiled a Spotify playlist of party bangers for the delivery room. And holding her hand through it all, Eden assumes, will be her best friend since childhood, Dawn (Michelle Buteau).
But Dawn has a demanding career and family of her own:...

Sci-fi legend Jack Arnold directed a majority of "Gilligan's Island," with plenty of prolific names like John Rich, Leslie Goodwins, and even "Superman" director Richard Donner all steering multiple episodes.
The origin of "Gilligan's Island" is a fascinating story already, with creator Sherwood Schwartz allegedly singing the theme song to a gas station attendant to see if the show sounded like something the average person would watch, but just as interesting is how groundbreaking the show was behind the camera.
Namely, by inviting decorated actress and history-making director Ida Lupino to helm a few episodes.
Although Rod Amateau is credited as directing the pilot for the series, CBS comedy show supervisor Sol Saks was quoted as claiming in William Donati's "Ida Lupino: A Biography," that Lupino had been brought in to help shape a struggling show. "It was 'Gilligan's Island,'" Saks said. "It wasn't even on the air yet.

August is gonna be huge for Disney+ and Hulu! There’s so much cool new stuff coming out over the next month to keep us entertained as summer wraps up.
Disney+ has some awesome shows starting new seasons. “Star Wars: Young Jedi Adventures” is back on August 14th with more space adventures. Kids can also look forward to fresh episodes of “Me and Winnie the Pooh” on the 21st. Music fans should check out “Are You Sure?!,” a new show about BTS members Jimin and Jung Kook that comes out the 8th.
Hulu really loaded up their August lineup with something for everyone. One of the biggest things has to be season 4 of “Only Murders in the Building” premiering on the 27th. I heard they added some famous people like Zach Galifianakis and Eugene Levy too which will be sweet.
Movie lovers can watch a bunch of new flicks that just left theaters too.

The feature film debut of writer/director Chris Stuckmann has a solid, albeit slightly familiar, premise. In 2008, four YouTubers known for a ghost hunting show called ‘Paranormal Paranoids’ go missing near the deserted town of Shelby Oaks, sparking conspiracy theories and suspicions it’s a hoax to increase the channel’s notoriety.
When the bodies of Laura (Caisey Cole), Peter (Anthony Baldasare), and David (Eric Francis Malaragni) are discovered, however, the focus shifts to the fourth member: host Riley (Sarah Durn), whose disappearance prompts nationwide speculation around the question: “Who took Riley Brennan?”
That’s the question that Riley’s older sister Mia (Camille Sullivan) can’t stop thinking about. Twelve long years after the disappearance of her supernaturally gifted sibling, Mia is being interviewed by a documentary team led by Janet (Emily Bennett). It’s something of a hail mary by Mia’s husband Robert (Brendan Sexton III), who...

Guillermo del Toro is praising Osgood Perkins’ “Longlegs,” which scared up theaters over the weekend with a box office opening of over $22 million.
The horror film starring Maika Monroe as an FBI agent hunting Nicolas Cage — who plays a Satanic serial killer in prosthetics, white face powder, and lipstick — has become a viral hit. “Pan’s Labyrinth” and “Pinocchio” director Del Toro tweeted praise for the film on July 14.
“A great Oz Perkins film, 100 percent his vibe,” del Toro wrote. “It is comforting when a colleague fares well while staying faithful to the rhythms and motifs that have made his career. His metronome, his meticulous composition, and his uncanny sense of evil and impending doom.”
He continued, “It’s not horror as usual, or a thriller as usual. It bares the same preoccupations Oz has had from the start and his Cosmic dread. It is his vibe and signature and I...

The summer of 1999 had big things planned for the supernatural horror genre. In the midst of high-budget blockbuster movies emerged a small Indie movie named The Blair Witch Project. Directed by two University of Central Florida students, Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez, the movie drew inspiration from Steven Spielberg’s 1975 masterpiece Jaws.
Joshua Leonard in The Blair Witch Project (1999) || Artisan Entertainment
Initially many studios dismissed it, considering it a risky venture. However, The Blair Witch project brought in an incredible $248.6 million worldwide, despite having a $60,000 shooting budget. Further, the movie continues to haunt the audience even after 25 years of its release.
How Steven Spielberg’s Jaws inspired The Blair Witch Project
The movie, which tells the tale of three student filmmakers named Heather Donahue, Michael C. Williams, and Joshua Leonard, was a major factor in polarizing the found-footage horror genre. To document the Blair Witch legend, the three of them head into the Maryland woods.

I hate when people claim “nothing has come out this year” when it’s more a matter of access versus lack of great content. 2024 has already seen a slew of fantastic horror films released. And yet, I’m still hearing the same sentiment. “Nothing has been released.” “The year is trash.” We must be looking at completely different years because not only has this year been killer, but we’ve received some films that transcend labels. Chris Bumbray recently revealed his own favorites of the year, so I felt it was time to focus on the horror side. So join me as I look back on the best horror films of the first half of 2024.
Longlegs:
Rarely does a film live up to the hype when said hype is astronomically large. Yet Longlegs managed to come along with absolutely tremendous performances and a terror that emanates every bit of celluloid.

There's no greater fear than the unknown. Our heritage as beings evolved from organisms whose survival instinct was developed thousands of years ago means that we're all afraid of the literal and/or metaphorical dark, if for no better reason than we inherently know that danger can lie in wait within those unseen spaces. With knowledge comes logic, reason, and enlightenment, but there are still many questions about existence without answers, chief among them what else may exist beyond our corporeal forms. The conception of a God or Gods is a comforting one, but as logic follows, the existence of both good and evil in the world could mean that there is no God without a Devil.
It's that ambiguous, unresolved fear we all have about the nature of evil and its potential tangibility that writer/director Osgood Perkins has demonstrated an uncanny knack for tapping into. From his debut,...

Hulu has done it again: the streaming network has taken a classic horror film, “The Omen” (1976), and created an intriguing prequel that pays homage to and respects the original. Several months after it made so much buzz in the media ahead of its theatrical release, The First Omen has finally arrived on global streaming, finding its home at Hulu platform. Still, those who weren’t able to catch the movie in theaters can now check it out on Hulu and get convinced whether or not it’s indeed one of the best horror films of this year.

The late Richard Donner, director of Superman, made some of the most acclaimed and memorable films of the 70s and 80s. He was the go-to director for action blockbusters and entertaining cinema ranging from superhero films to buddy-cop comedies. He directed iconic films such as The Omen, The Goonies, The Lethal Weapon franchise, and Superman.

2024 is half over and while we have seen some brilliant horror films come out this year I don’t think it has been such a great year for the genre. With most horror films flopping at the box office and the dreaded Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey sequel coming out it all felt wrong. But don’t worry because I have picked out the 10 best horror films that have come out this year. I haven’t ranked the films in the article and I will update the list as more films come out.

As George Miller’s oil and blood-fuelled Furiosa hits the screens, we ponder what makes a great prequel.
Mild spoilers for The First Omen.
There are a lot of bad prequels. There are some good prequels, but a great prequel is a rare thing to come across. They’re like a rare animal, the unicorns of cinema. Some wonder if such a thing even exists, but when you do watch one, it’s really rather something.
George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga might just be one, a prequel which somehow manages to justify its existence and repeat the exhilarating sense of time and place as Mad Max: Fury Road. I’d be surprised if we saw another action film as handsomely made as Furiosa in 2024. Or 2025. Or 2026.
Prequels are an easy sell for studios, but a hard sell for audiences. For studios, they’re an easy way...

The darkness enveloped me, and despite the summer heat outside, the air in the building was cool. I sat in silence, intently focused, anticipating what happened next, but not quite prepared. I tensed up upon seeing the spectral woman directly ahead of me. She silently floated, translucent and seemingly unaware — until at last facing me and lunging with a guttural growl as her face distorted into some horrific entity.

"The First Omen" was one of the biggest movie surprises of the year. What could've easily been a cheap, lazy cash-in on IP awareness turned out to be an inventive, smart, and surprisingly disturbing horror movie that just happens to be a prequel. As Witney Seibold wrote in his /Film review: "In an age when long-in-the-tooth horror franchises like 'Halloween' and 'The Exorcist' are being tiresomely revived without a trace of creativity, it's refreshing and splendid to see a picture that is thoughtfully menacing, uniquely stylish, deathfully intense, and utterly terrifying. 'The First Omen' is a film of dank, bloody, spittle-flecked dread, made no less powerful by the foregone conclusion."
In "The First Omen," we follow a young novitiate (Nell Tiger Free) who is sent to help at an orphanage in Rome. Once there, she begins to experience terrifying visions that hint at a grand conspiracy involving unspeakable evil.

The history of horrors knows a number of such classic films that established the whole franchises that manage to stay afloat for decades. These include The Omen, Friday the 13th, The Evil Dead and other movie series that are familiar to every cinema lover.
However, such franchises can often bring the installments that only defame the honor of the original movies. The same has seemingly happened with one of the darkest horror series, as its latest movie was received quite poorly by critics and by the audience, and it’s proved by its shameful 22% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Its plot revolves around Victor, a widowed man, who has to raise his daughter Angela on his own. One day, the girl and her best friend mysteriously disappear into the woods, only to return three days later with no memory of what happened to them.

Like many children of the 80s, I have a soft spot for the 1985 adventure epic Ladyhawke. It’s directed by the great Richard Donner, with it coming just before The Goonies and Lethal Weapon, but after his time with the Superman franchise. Lavishly produced, it wasn’t a hit in 1985 despite having a top-notch cast that included the late Rutger Hauer (in a rare heroic role), Michelle Pfeiffer, and Matthew Broderick. While some might say the latter was rather improbably cast as an Italian thief in the Middle Ages, that’s not actually the weirdest thing about the movie.
Donner has a reputation for always choosing superb composers for his films. Just think about how iconic Michael Kamen and Eric Clapton’s work is for Lethal Weapon, John Williams’s Superman theme, Jerry Goldsmith’s work on The Omen, and Dave Grusin’s score for The Goonies. Yet, one score...

Transitioning the naturalistic comic sensibilities that made Better Things a success, Pamela Adlon’s feature debut Babes manages to co-opt the rhythms of a romantic comedy to explore the relationship between two best friends at opposite points of their lives.
Eden and Dawn (Michelle Buteau) have been friends for 27 years. Married with one child and another on the way, Dawn seemingly has her life together, whereas Eden runs a yoga studio out of her apartment and doesn’t imagine settling down anytime soon.
