Screen writer Alphonse Boudard - who was an ex convict, who spent many years in jail - said after the shooting of the film that the movie industry jungle was the worst of the worst for him, regarding of all the difficulties he encountered during the production of the film. The screenplay was written, re written so many times because Louis De Funès and Jean Gabin were not satisfied, saying that the other had too many lines compared to his co star, that Alphonse Boudard finally quit the shooting. But he was eventually paid.
