Based on the novel of the same title by Torcuato Luca de Tena, winner of the 1961 Planeta Prize.
Torcuato is also the author, among other novels, of Los Renglones Torcidos de Dios [God's Crooked Lines].
In the National Union of Show Business Awards (Premios del Sindicato Nacional del Espectáculo de 1967) of 1967 the film won the awards for best screenplay and best cinematography.
