The song "A Woggle Bird" was originally written by Sammy Cahn and Jimmy Van Heusen in 1962 as "A Woggle Bug", for a planned adaptation of L. Frank Baum's The Marvelous Land of Oz. When the Oz project was canceled, the song was suitably revised for this film. Eventually the Oz project was revived, and was finalized as Journey Back to Oz (1972), without the Woggle Bug character or any version of this song.
This version of the 17th-century English fairy tale seems to plagiarize elements from the Bud Abbott and Lou Costello version, Jack and the Beanstalk (1952). The bean salesman accompanies Jack up the beanstalk, and his hat falls all the way down after reaching the top. (In the original tale, Jack has no companions on his climb.)
