¨Blood beast terror¨ or ¨The vampire Beast craves blood¨ involves a creepy weremoth transforming itself resulting in fateful and horrible consequences . At the begining it explains at the opening credits : All characters & events in this film are fictitious. Any similarity to actual events or persons living or dead is purely coincidental. Dealing with a loony entomologist , Robert Flemying, who transforms a being between a giant DeathsHead moth and a beautiful woman who feeds on the blood of her victims when she is in the moth form . As Moth and she proceeds to terrorize and drink innocent victims' blood . Along the way , there appears Peter Cushing as the cunning cop investigating a series of murders committed by the weird monster. The Blood Lust of a frenzied vampire !
Acceptable horror entry , though tacky and indifferently acted exception for the always great Peter Cushing ; however , he' is inferior than other classic horror movies that he starred , in fact he deemed to be one of his worst films . Dealing with a woman who metamorphoses into a giant death's head loose in rural England , although special effects on the giant moth are lousily made . Passable main and support cast with Robert Flemyng , who replaced Basil Rathbone due to play a part in the film but died before filming started , Robert is the scientist , working with genetics, creating a creature that is capable of transforming back and forth into a woman and huge moth , as the creature masquerades as his daughter when she is in her human incarnation is well played by Wanda Wentham -who is mother of the prestigious Benedict Cumberbath- , while Vanessa Howard , who married producer Robert Chartoff , plays Peter Cushing's daughter . Produced by Tigon British Film Productions , another nice production company expert on terror movies similar to Hammer Films and Robert S Baker/Monty Berman and Max Rosenberg/Milton Subotsky productions , all of them financing several horror films during the classic Brit period . Despite a few escenarios and its low budget the picture is decent , thanks to the appropriate filmmaking , frightening musical score and colorful photography in Eastman Colour.
As it contains a brilliant and adequate cinematography by Stanley Long . As well as frightening and suspenseful musical score by Paul Ferris . The motion picture was professionally directed by Vernon Sewell , though packs some flaws and gaps . Vernon was one of the crew of "castaways" with Michael Powell on the Shetland island of Foula to make The Edge of the World (1937). He later became one of the mainstays in the "B" movie niche of the British film industry, and in his almost 40-year career he turned out everything from spy thrillers to horror films to "sexploitation" fare , directing all kinds of genres as Noir , action , adventure and terror . Shooting a number of films as Curse of the Crimson Altar , Strictly for the Birds , Urge to kill , Matter of Choice , Strongroom , The Man in the Back Seat , Wrong Number , Battle of the V-1 , Wind of change , Rogue's Yarn , Soho Incident , Johnny You're Wanted , Where There's a Will , Radio Cab Murder , Dangerous Voyage and being his last film : Burke and Hare about the story of the notorious grave-robbers . Adding his ordinary TV works as The Human Jungle , Kraft Mystery theater , Sailor of Fortune , Edgar Wallace (TV Series) and Avengers. Rating : 6/10 . Acceptable and passable .
