During the period the film was set, the USA was changing its road marking from white to yellow. In various shots on country roads, you can make out the same section of road having white center stripes one minute and yellow the next. It is possible that the road had its lines repainted during the filming.
When Dick (James Caan) first encounters Kitty (Sally Kellerman) along the highway next to her stalled car, it appears to be shortly after midday, judging by the short shadows cast by Dick and Kitty. A police car comes up behind them, and when the policeman gets out, suddenly both he and the other two characters are casting very long shadows, indicating that it's now very late in the afternoon, yet only about half a minute has elapsed since Dick met Kitty.
Just before the end of the film a car and trailer is forced off the road crashes through a fence and back onto the road forcing a black van into a pond. A second black van pulls up. Some action takes place between it's driver and James Caan (driver of the car) who walks back to the car and one of the black vans has disappeared.
Right after Harry is shot, Dick pulls the shade down over the window. Three shots are fired and make three holes in the shade. Five more shots are fired, but the shade is not shown, just the bullets striking around the room. Eight more shots are fired, and again the film just shows the bullets hitting around the room (so, as far as one knows there are at least the three bullet holes in the shade and possibly more). Harry asks for his trunk and Dick pulls it over to him. Harry then pulls out a shotgun and fires it at the window, creating a shotgun pattern hole in the shade. But those previous three bullet holes in the shade are now gone. There is more gunfire and Harry fires his shotgun again, creating another shotgun pattern in the shade. There is more gunfire and more bullets go through the window, but the two shotgun pattern holes in the shade are now gone too.
When Dick and Barry meet with Vincent in his office while he eats his lunch, his cream soda changes positions on the desk several times throughout the scene.
When Dick Kanipsia (James Caan) deposits coins into a payphone, an audible chime is heard. But payphones of this vintage no longer had audible chimes; the insertion of coins was acknowledged via a line signal.
Dick and Kitty are in a diner and Dick says it is 2 am. Yet not only is this diner in a remote area (where the community probably rolls up the sidewalks at 9 pm), but it is full of people (including a family with three small children). This setting is more apt to being 7 or 8 pm than 2 am.
