At the end of the movie, the Italian crowd exults because the national team won the final match of the Football World Cup against England. In reality such a match never occurred; actually Italy never played England in a World Cup before 1990. In the 1970 World Cup (hence just before the movie was shot), Italy lost the final to Brazil.
