Woody Allen is a four-time Academy Award winner who has proved incredibly prolific in his decades-long career, writing, directing, and oftentimes starring in nearly a film a year for over 50 years. But how many of those are classics? Let’s take a look back at 25 of his greatest films, ranked worst to best.
After years as a joke writer and standup comic, Allen transitioned into filmmaking penning such screenplays as “What’s New Pussycat?” (1965) and starring in such titles as “Casino Royale” (1967). His first credit as a director was the comedically overdubbed Japanese spy thriller “What’s Up, Tiger Lily?” (1966).
The Woody Allen as we know him emerged in 1969 with the farcical mockumentary “Take the Money and Run” (1969), made when he was 34 years old. The success of that film led to a string of critically acclaimed absurdist comedies, including “Bananas” (1971) and “Sleeper” (1973).

Zach Nichols called out former castmate Johnny Bananas with recent criticisms about how he plays The Challenge.
Zach and Bananas last appeared as castmates during the War of the Worlds 2 season, where Bananas was an early elimination due to Cara Maria Sorbello and Paulie Calafiore’s votes.
Meanwhile, Zach hung around until the end of the season, reaching the final as part of Team USA with Cara, Paulie, and several other castmates. They ultimately lost to a four-person Team UK.
Bananas is currently part of the epic 40-person cast for The Challenge: Battle of the Eras and has recently been featured in quite a bit of drama.
That included him warning castmate Michele Fitzgerald over her showmance with Devin Walker, which riled up Michele, Devin, and Tori Deal. It led to plenty of drama and game moves aimed at one another.

It’s the biggest and likely baddest season The Challenge has ever seen — and no, that’s not just some glossy marketing promo. A whopping 40 (!) challengers from the franchise’s 26-year history (!!) descend upon Vietnam for what looks to be one of the most insane seasons to ever go into production. What a way to celebrate a legacy.
While the four different eras will, indeed, be going to war (eventually), host Tj Lavin drops a ginormous twist at the top of the hour: the players must survive “The Era Invitational” first, which comprises of the biggest elimination night the game has ever seen!

Ever since Charlton Heston climbed out of a little rocket ship in the toxic waters of the Forbidden Zone, science fiction has never been the same. A feud between Tamra Judge of The Real Housewives of Orange County and Parvati Shallow from Survivor may pique interest in a reunion show for The Traitors 2.
Tamra and Parvati each appeared on the second season of The Traitors, with Parvati, Big Brother’s Dan Gheesling, and Rhoa’s Phaedra Parks Murdering Tamra in the game.
Parvati was eliminated three episodes later when she got Banished at a Roundtable. She was the second Traitor eliminated, as Dan was Banished right before her.
Many players from The Traitors have been doing interviews as the show continues rolling. And it’s those interviews where feuds and chaos have been coming up.
One feud is between Big Brother legends, as guest star Dr. Will Kirby went after his fellow alums and how they have played The Traitors.
And now Tamra hasn’t taken kindly to Parvati speaking about her during a recent podcast episode hosted by Johnny Bananas.

The Challenge Season 40 could be legendary based on speculation swirling over the cast.
While only a few competitors have been revealed so far, a recent addition to the rumored list is one of the game’s all-time greats.
Season 39, Battle For a New Champion, featured some of the show’s multi-time winners, including Darrell Taylor, Cara Maria Sorbello, and Ct Tamburello.
However, they only briefly appeared in one episode for an elimination event. Each attempted to eliminate a main cast member and take home $10,000 of the cast’s prize money.
Viewers hope to see more familiar faces with the yet-to-be-titled season, which some believe could be the last one shown exclusively on MTV.

This report could contain spoilers with potential cast members for the upcoming season.

Fred Gallo, a former assistant director on a slew of classic 1970s pictures who went on to become the president of production at Paramount, has died. He was 78 years old.
The Hollywood titan, who had worked on Oscar-winning gems like “The Godfather,” “Annie Hall” and “Rocky,” died on Sept. 7 at his Santa Ynez Valley home.
His family confirmed his passing, while Lee Rosenthal called him a “singular force in the industry.” Paramount and Nickolodean’s president of worldwide physical production said, in a statement obtained by TheWrap, that “beneath a formidable exterior was a big-hearted, one-man masterclass in filmmaking and production management.”
“Some of the most iconic movies of our time — ‘The Godfather,’ ‘Rocky’ and ‘Annie Hall,’ to name a few — are imprinted with Fred’s artistry,” Rosenthal stated. “He was a vestige of a time and place in Hollywood history, an early champion of inclusivity and a mentor to many.

Lou Alexander, a comedian who worked the national nightclub circuit in the U.S. and Canada in the 1950s and 1960s before becoming an agent and manager, died earlier this month in Beverly Hills. He was 91 and no details on the cause were available, according to his friend, Jeremy Vernon.
Alexander grew up as the son of a burlesque comedian who worked the Catskills in the heyday of the famed “Borscht Belt.” Young Lou became part of the act at age 10, joining him in skits.
Later, teaming with high school friend Howard Storm – who went on to direct the films Bananas, Everything You Always Wanted To Know About Sex But Were Afraid To Ask, and Take The Money and Run – they worked the comedy circuit as Storm and Gale, playing rooms in the Miami area and building a cult following among national comedians who were impressed with their burlesque routines.

With its list of new releases for June 2023, Prime is bringing a handful of Amazon Originals and many recent movie hits to the fold.
It’s actually quite a busy month for non-American programming in Amazon Originals department. Shows and movies like Deadloch, My Fault, and Medellín all originate from outside the U.S. and U.K. For the American and British crowd, however, the streamer is debuting two big tentpoles.
The first is I’m a Virgo on June 23. Acclaimed director Boots Riley’s TV followup to Sorry to Bother You will tale the surreal and satirical tale of a giant in Oakland. That will be followed by the more conventional (assumedly) fourth season of Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan on June 30.

The Challenge star Devin Walker went on a three-season break after his tense fight with Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio in Final Reckoning. He says the winningest competitor denied blocking his return but has other theories about why he didn’t compete again until Double Agents.

Although it didn’t get much camera time, rivals Devin Walker and Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio put their issues behind them to team up for the season. Following his win, Devin returned to the Challenge Mania podcast and explained it made sense to work with Bananas because not many other teams want to pair up with him due to his success in the finals.

The character of Otto West in "A Fish Called Wanda" is a marvelous comedic creation. He is, in no particular order, a demolitions expert, a narcissist, a pervert, a psychopath and a moron. Otto does not, of course, believe he is a moron, and his deep conceitedness shields him from this truth -- even though he has been called "stupid" enough times to specifically insist that people must not fling this epithet at his person.
There is a broad theatricality to Otto's idiocy, but he must be desirable enough to convince us that a wily con artist like Wanda Gershwitz (Jamie Lee Curtis) would go to bed with him repeatedly. There were dozens of character actors thriving in 1988 who could've met both prerequisites, but the role screamed for a movie star willing to make a spectacular ass out of himself. So thank god for Kevin Kline, even if he never...

Johnny Bananas replied to Survivor’s Tyson Apostol and his claims about The Challenge. Pic credit: MTV’s The Challenge/YouTube
The Challenge legend Johnny Bananas recently reacted to tweets from The Challenge: USA star Tyson Apostol, who made serious claims about his abilities in the competition series.
Tyson, a winner during CBS’ Survivor, currently appears on a CBS spinoff version of the popular MTV show. Throughout the show’s episodes, he’s displayed that he has a solid grasp of the game.
It’s led to him suggesting he would fare well against some of the MTV competition series’ all-time greats, which got Bananas firing back on Twitter.
Bananas, who won on seven seasons of the MTV show, first responded to a fans’ tweet commenting about The Challenge: USA spinoff.

The Sony Choice Collection has rescued another long forgotten TV movie from obscurity and released it as a burn-to-order title. "Kiss Me...Kill Me" is a crime thriller that was originally telecast in 1976. Compared to similar fare from that era, the film is fairly routine, though it might well be more appreciated today than it was at the time of its original airing. This is due to the fact that it boasts a strong cast of seasoned veteran actors- something that was relatively common in the 1970s, when the concept of TV movies became very popular. Most of these productions had star power and audiences enjoyed seeing some of their favorite movie stars on the small screen. "Kiss Me...Kill Me" stars Stella Stevens as Stella Stafford, an L.A-based investigator for the District Attorney's office. She is assigned to an especially disturbing murder case involving Maureen Coyle...

Part fan-fiction, part cosplay, part “What if David Lynch and Amy Sedaris collaborated on a kinda-sorta biopic of Celine Dion,” “Aline” is like nothing you’ve ever seen. And more often than not, that’s a good thing.
Director-star Valérie Lemercier demonstrates a staggering amount of chutzpah in crafting a Celine Dion movie that renames the main character “Aline Dieu” and for taking on the role herself: The fifty-something filmmaker plays the title character from age 7 onward, and while she has a background as a comedian, she dares you not to take this story, or her performance, seriously.
In an era where recent Oscar wins for “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and “King Richard” means we’re looking at another decade of earnest biopics with grandstanding lead roles, Lemercier (who won a César for Best Actress) throws down the gauntlet with this weird and wonderful portrait of an artist.

“Bob The Barber”
By Raymond Benson
One of actor/comedian Bob Hope’s most cherished films is Monsieur Beaucaire, a 1946 remake of a Rudolph Valentino silent picture from 1924, both of which are based on a 1900 novel by Booth Tarkington. Hope’s version, directed by George Marshall, is certainly a loose adaptation because it turned what was a historical romantic drama into a flat-out comedy.
Woody Allen has been known to cite early Bob Hope movies as an inspiration for his onscreen persona in the director’s early “zany” comedies like Bananas and Sleeper. When one views something like Monsieur Beaucaire or My Favorite Blonde (1942), the comparison is strikingly apt. Hope creates a persona of nervous mannerisms, lack of self confidence masked by bravado, clumsy but endearing interaction with the opposite sex, and witty one-liners. Beaucaire exhibits Hope in fine form, producing a good...
