Despite an 'R' rating being the only one officially granted to the film by the MPAA, it could be seen carrying other ratings throughout the 1970s. It was shown with a 'GP' rating in 1970-1972 in parts of Pennsylvania, Texas, and Florida, and a 'PG' rating from 1972-1979 in Texas, Florida, Maryland, and Arizona. It is unknown if these prints were subject to local censorship or if the distributor simply used these ratings in an effort to increase attendance.
