This film was made after director B.R. Chopra attended a German film festival, where he was told that all Indian movies contained "nothing but songs." He took that as a challenge. This film contains no songs.
This movie is credited to be the first song less movie ever made in India.
Raaj Kumar was signed for the lead role but later was replaced by Rajendra Kumar.
Pradeep Kumar was offered the film but his secretary told him to hold off and ask for more money.
