After his fiancée elopes with a crooner,on the very day of his wedding ,a racing driver is about to commit suicide ;but like in Capra's "it's a wonderful life" ,his guardian angel ,who is not Clarence but a pretty girl dressed up as an air hostess, intervenes ;there the comparison ends ; the 1945 movie is a masterpiece , the Radvayni effort is only a pleasant little comedy ,with attractive actors and a lively screenplay.
This guardian angel is commissioned to help the desperate racing driver find true love in the shape of a gorgeous air hostess who is mad about him; her chief does not allow her to fall in love with her protégé ; hence the final sigh of relief :"fortunately it's a girl" .
A very good cast including Romy Schneider in a double role , Henri Vidal , the fifties heart-throb ,who after his prematured death shortly after the film, would give place to Jean-Paul Belmondo here a foil to him , Michèle "Angélique" Mercier whose glorious career in the sixties was short-lived .And in supporting roles,Jean Tissier as a MC and Paulette Dubost as Romy's mom.
