This film lives by the refreshing performance of Eva Maria Hagen. She plays a sully but also very anxious girl who has no place in this world due to World War II. A very heartwarming film which made me cry almost every ten minutes though the plot is most of the times merry. There is no kitsch in this film though the plot might suggest it. The film does not show any war scenes or other cruelties, the war is long over. The pain of this black time is seen by the inner eye of the viewer and that makes it even heavier. But there is always hope and it is very nice to see, how the girl finds slowly but steadily more and more understanding and helpful people in her life.
