According to an ad in the Chicago Tribune, the film Carnival Rock opened in Chicago's Loop theatre district as the top-half of a double-bill on Wednesday, November 27, 1957, at the Monroe theatre (Monroe at Dearborn); the ad reads: "TODAY . . . 2 thrilled New Hits! 2 New First Run Hits---"Carnival Rock" Hear 10 Hit Songs, Rock N' Roll to the music of Bob Luman, the Platters, David Houston, the Shadows, the Blockbusters; plus "Teen Age Thunder" . . . young love and teen age kisses, hot rods and hot tempers---never over 79 cents . . . " The Tribune described the film thusly: Carnival Rock, "A shabby night club becomes a popular spot when the owner hires rock and roll bands to appear there. Susan Cabot and Brian Hutton co-star. Music by The Platters, David Houston, Bob Luhman, and others."
