It was only after filming was complete that Claude Chabrol learned, with some concern, that his leading lady, Marie Laforêt, was in the early stages of pregnancy all throughout the shooting of the film.
The film's French title, "Marie Chantal contre Dr. Kha", is a sly allusion to the French title for the first film in the James Bond series, Dr. No (1962), which was "James Bond 007 contre Dr. No".
One of the camera operators on the film was Claude Zidi, who would later become a film director in his own right.
