Lisa Kudrow remembers her Friends TV mom, Teri Garr, following news of her death.
Garr died at the age of 79 due to multiple sclerosis, which was first diagnosed in 1999. Kudrow shared the small screen with Garr in multiple episodes of the NBC sitcom and paid tribute to her late co-star.
“Teri Garr was a comedic acting genius who was and is a huge influence on me and I know I’m not alone in that,” Kudrow said in a statement to People. “I feel so lucky and grateful I got to work with Teri Garr.”
Garr played the role of Phoebe Abbott on Friends, Kudrow’s Phoebe Buffay, and Ursula Buffay’s estranged mother. Her first appearance was in the 1997 Season 3 finale episode titled “The One at the Beach.” In the episode, Phoebe meets with a woman she believes is her parents’ friend. Phoebe later discovers that the woman is her biological mother.

Teri Garr, the Oscar-nominated actress who capitalized on her adorable flightiness in such films as Tootsie and Young Frankenstein before her career was derailed by multiple sclerosis, died Tuesday. She was 79.
Garr, who started out as a background dancer working alongside Elvis Presley in several 1960s party films, died at her home in Los Angeles “surrounded by family and friends,” publicist Heidi Schaeffer told The Hollywood Reporter.
Garr revealed that she had Ms, the chronic, degenerative disease of the nervous system, on Larry King’s CNN show in October 2002, and she survived emergency surgery to treat a brain aneurysm four years later. Her final onscreen appearance came in 2011.
Garr’s career breakthrough came as Gene Wilder’s comely Transylvanian lab assistant in Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein (1974). She received her supporting actress Oscar nomination for playing Dustin Hoffman’s insecure actress friend in Sydney Pollack’s Tootsie (1982).
Those films ranked Nos.

"Life's A Beach"
By Lee Pfeiffer
When it comes to defining cinematic guilty pleasures, one need not look any further than the lame-brained beach movies that were marketed to teenagers in the mid-1960s. The formula started in 1963 with "Beach Party", teaming Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon for the first time as loved-starved teens who are addicted to fun and sun in the surf. The film was such a hit that it spawned numerous sequels, delighting producers Samuel Z. Arkoff and James H. Nicholson and American International, which was mining gold by making big profits from low-budget productions. The beach series didn't vary much in terms of content and many of the most popular actors were utilized in each successive film. There were also simlarly-themed films starring Avalon in different geographical settings. But if the beach series burned brightly, its flame was short-lived. By 1965, the young audiences that initially craved...

While Isaiah may share the charming good looks as his mom, he obviously doesn’t have the same fears.

A spaceship heads to a remote planet to answer an Sos. Upon arrival on the fog covered world, they discover an insidious alien race that needs warm bodies to propagate their species. Yeah, I love Alien (1979) too! However, the film I’m referring to is Mario Bava’s Planet of the Vampires (1965), an influential departure for the prolific horror auteur and a gorgeously rendered sci-fi/horror blend.
Now, by no means am I suggesting that Sir Ridley Scott borrowed from Mario Bava (he claimed he never saw Planet beforehand); but I will say that this film also has a giant alien skeleton at the helm of a ship. Regardless of influence (or lack thereof), Planet still plays today due to Bava’s magnificent brushstrokes that drip from every frame.
Planet of the Vampires was also released as (take a deep breath): Planet of Blood, Terror in Space, The Haunted Planet,...

Will the show go on? The "Real Housewives of Atlanta" had a rocky Season 6 reunion, one that escalated into a physical fight between Porsha Williams and Kenya Moore. Moore -- who had been antagonizing Williams throughout the reunion special -- took a beating when Porsha lost her cool and went on full attack mode. Executive Producer, Andy Cohen has stressed that physical violence would not be tolerated on the reality series ... especially after the infamous Pajama Party brawl earlier in the season. So, did Williams get the boot?According to E!, all six of the ladies will be returning to the "Real Housewives of Atlanta" ... including Kordell Stewart's ex and the much-hated former Miss USA. Porsha and Kenya are reportedly finalizing their contracts. We're happy to hear that the whole crew is here to stay, and we can't wait to see the ladies (and the drama) when Season 7 kicks off later this year!

Somehow, against considerable odds - including a Gay Men's Chorus, copious musical numbers and Barbra Effing Streisand - last night's Shameless actually managed to out-gay the Oscars.
Here's how!
We start with Brittany from Social Services packing the Gallagher kids into a minivan like Chicago's most dangerous tee-ball team. She's apparently managed to place wee Liam and Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) in a foster home together, while Debs (Emma Kenney) will be on her own at another home and Lip (Jeremy Allen White) and Ian (Cameron Monaghan) will be housed in some sort of juvie prison camp. This has Lord of the Flies written all over it, and I don't like it. As they depart, Fiona (Emmy Rossum) asks Brittany who reported them but she's not talking. Fiona assures the kids that they'll be home before long, reminding them that last time it was only for nine days.
This is very sad.

Joe Knetter is not only a writer in the indie horror genre but he's a published author, a stunt bot and does a little acting on the side. He has several projects in the works including one werewolf film we've been following for quite some time. Knetter is also one funny guy and you'll find out as you check out my latest "Versus". Consider this an early Christmas present peeps, read on!
Brian S- First off Joe, how'd you get into writing, specifically for the indie horror genre.
Joe Knetter- It was on a cocaine binge deep in jungle's of Brazil. I was covered in honey and waging war against this tribe of fairies called the Dundleberts. Those crazy little bastard loved nothing more than to pull out your pubic hairs while you slept and sprinkle them on your upper lip. Just thinking of them now makes me want...

Previously, a textile design challenge that should've been fun turned into yet another runway of blahness. Valerie went home, and Mondo had an emotional time before winning the challenge.
Heidi is at the runway, and tells them that they'll be switching models for the first time this season, which is a good twist but also annoying for everyone involved. The final outcome is that Mondo's model (who had been my favorite so far and rocked everything that Mondo made) is sent home. Heidi next tells them that their challenge will be to create a head-to-toe look for her ActiveWear collection for New Balance. She brings out five of the looks and it's just depressing to look at -- all floppy, loose clothes in dull colors. They're cute work-out clothes,...

You may have different ideas about you wanted to watch, but when you have kids, you're going to find yourself exposed to all manner of television at one point or another. Some of these are tolerable, some ignorable, some beyond allowable, and some suck you right in (iCarly and Phineas and Ferb jump to mind), and while the age-range of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse prevents a real level of adult watchability, it's an impressive show that kids love. The newest DVD release of the semi-interactive Disney effort is Minnie's Bow-tique, and includes the episodes - Minnie's Bow-tique, Minnie's Picnic, Minnie's Bee Story, and the Never-Before-Seen Minnie's Pajama Party. The last two episodes include Adventure Mode, a fun way to watch interactively using the remote. While the Adventure Mode clearly seems like a gimmicky feature not far removed from what you might find on other releases, Disney DVDs do good work with such features,...

Pittsburgh, Pa has ten days before all hell breaks loose. That's because from September 18th through the 20th at the Crowne Plaza, those fine folks that put on ZombieFest have broadened their horizons into a new convention, now called "Horror Realm."
The convention will feature the usual fare of guests and vendors, but this one also has an emphasis on horror authors and artists with sponsors such as Library of the Living Dead and Permuted Press, Rue Morgue magazine, and The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The con also features horror author panels and a zombie film festival, as well as contests ranging from jello brain eating, scariest tattoo, hockey mask art, horror trivia, and costumes. There will also be demonstrations by the Art Institute of Pittsburgh and a flash fiction contest sponsored by Permuted Press, as well as a live production of Pittsburgh's hosted horror program It's Alive. Of course,...

Tall, strapping, square-jawed Jody McCrea who became a favorite of teenage audiences during the Sixties for his amusing performances as “Deadhead” in the series of Beach Party (1963) movies starring Frankie Avalon and Annette Funicello passed away on April 4 of this year. As the dumb surfer in the bunch, Deadhead could be counted on to say something idiotic in his slow drawl. Though McCrea was always assured a laugh based on how the role was written, it is to his credit that Deadhead came off as sweetly naïve rather than a complete moron.

To get in a warm weather mood with summer not approaching fast enough, here is a look at Hollywood surf movies from a different and albeit biased perspective. Gay men are always looking for gay subtext in movies and TV, and I am no exception. Am I reading more into these films? Probably—but it was sure a lot of fun doing the research.
The Sixties beach movie craze began with Gidget (1959) starring Sandra Dee and James Darren, a fictionalized look at teenager Kathy Kohner’s surfing escapades in Malibu during the mid-Fifties. It was groundbreaking as the movie contributed to the mass dissention of surfers on the beaches of Malibu and started a series of surf-theme films such as Gidget Goes Hawaiian and Ride the Wild Surf. The surf movie soon morphed into the beach-party film, whose heyday was from 1963 through 1965, where surfing was only used...
