This is a Hindi language film starring Sunil Dutt and Waheeda Rehman in the lead.
The film has a good message and is relevant to its times 60 years ago when the hinterland was swarming with dacoits. It is a message to them that generations after them will suffer for their sins. "Tere Bachpan ko Jawani ki Dua" is very apt to this message of the film.
Nor will their lives be in peace always under the shadow of the police and rivals. The key dialogue being how saving a life is much much more satisfying than taking a life.
It is also a message to the general masses not to commit sins against the families of these dacoits in the name of revenge. It will be equally wrong in the front of the law. Instead forgiveness is a greater virtue. Topics like religion of the children and future of the wives and children of these dacoits is also brought up.
But to convey this message this is far too lengthy a movie. The storyline and the contrived climax are all very predictable.
Nor does the film maintain pace with a lot of songs in between. The film could easily have been an hour short. No wonder it isn't watched or rated much on IMDb.
However it's understandable that the film is a reflection of its times in terms of the message, and perhaps even there length when 3 hour films were the norm.
I rated it 7/10 on IMDB.
