That's the only film directed by Francis Blanche. It was not a success in the result among audiences, so Blanche did not continue in directing. This movie is an adaptation from Alphonse Daudet's novel. Tha tale of a fake hero, a silly dude pretending of being himself a great hunter, an icon, a myth for its fellow citizens of where he lives, in Tarascon, France. So he decides to travel to Atlas mountains, hunting THE lion. But it appears that there is no more lion here. And all long this amusing feature, the audiences have confirmation that our lead is really a total prick, the perfect ass hole. The message of the film is also a savage criticism against colonialism, and a brilliant tale speaking of human behaviour. Francis Blanche is here at his peak. I feel sorry that this film was not a success.
