Quotes

  • [last lines]

Dr. Raven : [turning to address camera]  Of course the operation was a success... or *you* wouldn't be here.

"Title Card" : end - - point of beginning, Webster

  • Dr. Raven : When I perfected the "Thalamic Transplant" technique, these 'clickers' knew about it in a day and a half.

Capt. Kenneth Cragis : [to Acto]  But if you robots had the process, why did you risk using Raven? Why didn't you just do it yourself?

Acto, a clicker : We tried. But the shock of dying, and being resurrected as a robot, was too severe: they Re-Died.

  • Mark : This may be our last transplant for a while. Our supplier was caught.

Dr. Raven : I didn't hear anything on Telefax.

Mark : The Ministry of Information doesn't want it known that robots are dealing in robots. It would only give the Flesh & Blooders something more to yell about.

    Dr. Raven : They're a minority.

    Mark : A loud minority.

Dr. Raven : Your supplier, will they take his identity?

Mark : His memory will be dispersed tomorrow. What a waste.

Dr. Raven : Why don't they just kill him? The effect of personal cessation is the same in either case. They just leave a hollow shell walking around.

Mark : He can still perform his duties.

Dr. Raven : But he's without a past, without hope, the dream gone.

Mark : Almost like being a robot, isn't it?

    Dr. Raven : No offence.

Mark : I'm incapable of taking offence. But why is it the more we become like men, the more some of them hate us for it?

Dr. Raven : Men hate what they fear. You have perfect memory. Infallible logic. You never tire. You're circuited against anger and violence.

Mark : And in your world that leaves us pretty helpless.

Dr. Raven : We have to study for years what you pick up just plugging into a brain for two hours.

Mark : We don't refer to the Father-Mother as a brain.

Dr. Raven : Your Father-Mother is an electronic computer, nothing but a machine!

Mark : Your parents were machines. It's just that they were engineered with flesh and bone. Neither are ideal components.

Dr. Raven : You came off a production line.

Mark : I know who created me: Hollister Evans and the Mark-47. You have to accept your Creator on faith.

Dr. Raven : Who created your creator?

Mark : Yours. You see, we are brothers, aren't we?

Dr. Raven : I ought to know better than to argue with you Clickers.
