The Hustler is based on the first novel (1959) by American author Walter Tevis (1928-1984).
Fast Eddie Felson returns in The Color of Money (1986) to teach the tricks of the trade to his talented protégé. In The Baltimore Bullet (1980), two hustlers try to set up a big game. The storyline is said to be thin, but viewers have reported some good pool-players as well as billiards champion Willie Mosconi announcing the final tournament of the movie. In Poolhall Junkies (2002), an ex-hustler is forced to play against a rival for high stakes-his life and the life of his brother. In Stickmen (2001), three friends who call themselves the Stickmen get entered into a high stakes pool tournament run by a vicious crime boss.
